The Bible says God created everything out of nothing. The Big Bang basically says nothingness exploded and became everything. Why can't that be seen as the moment of creation?

Numerous posts pointing out how Christians are behaving in unChristianlike manner are simply attributed to them "Not being a true Christian." If you are answering in this manner, is this not like the pot calling the kettle black? Are you not judging that person in an unChristian like manner? Yet another hypocrisy at work?

Throughout mankind's history people have looked towards supernatural explanations for things they could not comprehend. Every once in a while after we have gained more knowledge, our deity of the day gets a little more sophisticated. For example, now that we can explain lightning, Zeus seems pretty silly to us. In ancient Greece however, Zeus was as real as our current Christian God. So in a couple thousand more years, how do you think God will have updated to keep in step with the times? Is quantum God the next step?

The Bible says that God made Adam and Eve, and they procreated to make all the other humans that have ever existed. But how can this be when we know now through science, research, etc. that it takes a minimum of about one thousand humans to expand a species? If you have less, and especially a lot less, the DNA running through the gene pool will be too closely related to make anything other than increasingly dumber, physically deformed, and mentally disabled individuals. Keep in mind that when the Bible was written, DNA hadn't been discovered yet.

The Bible says that the earth is around what, 6,000 years? But with scientific methods such as carbon dating, we can proove that the earth is closer to 4 billion years old.

There aren't enough rain clouds our water in circulation to flood the earth 40 ft above land (like in Noah's arc), and evidence showes that it never was near possible. Remember that when the bible was written, they didn't understand things like the cirsulation of water.

Just assume hell exists, ok?

I've heard some races of people don't have souls. Not that I believe it, but if the idea of people not having souls were true, they wouldn't go to heaven, but at least they don't go to hell either. Are they lucky?

BTW, if you're an aethist, do you think you have a soul?

Or do you keep a skeptic mind until you see how they live their life? I only ask because it seems that if someone acts in a way uncharacteristic to Christianity that afterwards other Christians denounce that person as being "Not a true Christian". Does this mean they're assumed true Christians until proven otherwise?

I reas a book by a Christian author that was around her Grandfather while he was dying and the Grandfather called out the name of a dead business partner as if God had sent the business partner out to guide him into heaven. My Uncle was starring at the ceiling moments before he died. Do you have a similar story you'd like to share? Or, do you believe right before you die you will see a bright light or a dead person you'd recongize?

I am researching pre-Mohammadean Arabic history, and I've found some interesting facts. Some of the facts make me wonder how much of Islamic tradition is from Mohammad, and how much existed before Mohammad was even born. Many Muslim tell me that Mohammad's religion is completely original..."made from scratch"...but historical fact casts serious doubts as to whether that is actaully true. Who knows the primary function of the Kaaba BEFORE Mohammad was born?

I was saved when I was 12 years old,but became lost a few years ago,and I am now finding my way back to the Lord.I have always been a poet, and if you like this poem, would anyone like to read others that I have written? It expresses how I felt, and how I'm feeling now. All my poems are covered by a copyright.

The Last of the Shadow Fades Away
Morbid poems I have been writing
For with myself I have been fighting
Shadowed words for a shadowed mind
But I really think it's time
To put away the shattered past
And find contentment, God at last
Glad again to be alive
This one thing I hope to strive
To be the person I used to be
No, she's still inside of me
I buried her deep, wanted to forget
But now, that's the one thing I regret
Shadows lift away, return no more
I want the person I was before
Set me free, no longer stay
The last of the shadow fades away

will write more under additional details, so hold on

He has to go bad so he looks out and there is the janitor cleaning the church. He begs the guy, "Can you take over for a little while I gotta go to the bathroom!" The janitor says "Uhh, I don't know anything about penance." The priest says "No problem, I got all the sins and their value written on the inside there."
So the janitor agrees and the priest goes.
A lady comes in and says "Forgive me father for I have sinned."
The janitor says "What did you do?"
The lady says "I gave a BJ to another guy."
So the janitor starts looking on the list, swearing, stealing, hurting others.... can't find BJ anywhere.
He says "Excuse me one moment, I must commune with the Lord for exact penance"
He looks out in the church and sees the altar boy getting ready for the next service. He says "psst... hey do you know what the priest gives for BJ's?"
The altar boy says "Last week it was a blow pop and a Snickers bar."

In another thread, "WhynotaskDon" claimed that those who have never learned about Christianity go immediately to heaven; that only those who reject your religion go to hell.

Does this mean that, if you're a poor example of Christianity and do a lousy job witnessing to others, that you're condemning untold numbers of otherwise-good people to hell just because you're so incompetent at getting your message across?

Thanks a lot, Xians.....

Stephen Hawking has done groundbreaking research on black holes and the origins of the universe. He proposes that space and time have no beginning and no end. Hawking has also suggested that if the universe was created then it is reasonable to assume it had a creator.

Hawking has also theorised that there could be multiple universes, possibly spawning like bubbles between yourself and your TV set. Why if someone so clearly intelligent and researching as Hawking, suggests that if the universe was created (in other words he doesn’t know) can so many uneducated religious people state that the universe was created by God?

If human intellect is unable to determine whether the universe was created, why does religion take over and assume it was and calls the creator God. Do religious people think that they are more intelligent than Stephen Hawking, and why do religious people not acknowledge that there could be multiple universes? Would each universe have it’s own God?
