Christ is the first fruits of them that slept, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20,23 After Christ are all those who are Christs at His coming.
The Living Bible 1 Corin.15:20 reads ....."Christ did actually rise from the dead, and has become the first of millions who will come back to life again some day." vs 23 reads: "Each, . . .in his own turn: Christ rose first; then when Christ comes back, all His people will become alive again.
These then are the first fruits presented to God who, through Jesus are reconciled to the Father and are now an offering, as Christians "present their bodies, a living sacrifice , which is their reasonable service. . . that is; no longer is their a sacrifice for the temple for we are the building of God. . . the people of God who receive the truth through Jesus Christ give themselves not 10% but 100% in surrender to God.
We share with Christ in the work of reconciling man to God and to one another. It is not about religion but about relationship.

Has to do with offering the "firstfruits" of the harvest in homage. So it means giving/sacrificing the "best."

A tenth part of what we have belongs to God, money, time, anything we own, and His tenth up front, not after everyone else is paid. Hence, Firstfruits.

First fruit is giving to God first out of everything...money, time, learning. This is done because everything we have came from God in the first place, and we are showing honor to Him by returning a portion of that to Him. The bible does not say 10%, but that is a good measuring stick.

The first works have to be of charity and good if you ask me. I never did try to look it up in Swedenborg's theology because Swedenborg's theology is all about the marriage of good and truth anyway.
