If you even could eradicate all religion globally, you would be commiting the same crime as those who go to war "in the name of their religion" by trying to force someone to believe something other than what they actually believe. The key is eradicating the world of people who are fanitical or intolerant. Unfortunately, this usually involves war. What if there were no WW II...and Hitler was left unchecked? Most of Europe would have suffered, and the Jewish would certainly be all but extinct. Not all war is about religion anyway. Sure, many are, but either way a point of view is being forced on a population through the use of agression and violence. The only response that works is an agressive and violent defense. WAR! The first shot is fired and away we go. I don't want any point of view forced on me, I , as an adult, will not tolerate anyone telling me what to think or do, and I am willing to fight for that. Further, if someone weaker than I is in the same situation, I may even be willing to fight for them to. This has nothing to do with religion, this is human nature

Well, if there were no more religions, wars would start about other things. Most wars these days have nothing to do with religion only power and control. Probably was the same in ancient times but religion was an easy motivation to assemble an uneducated army and inspire it. Wars will always happen for one reason or another, as there are just too many people on a small planet.

Wave - how can religion be an excuse for racism? People always give racism as an excuse for anything they don't like to hear. Change the record. People against religion aren't racist because if you are talking about any religion you could be black, white, chinese, pakistani etc etc so how can you justify saying that? I am a non-believer yes but I do not think religion is the cause of ALL wars. As long as there are humans on this planet there will always be wars. It's a fact of life and even if religion was banned then nothing would change.

As a silent observer (free from any religions), it is time to eradicate all religions because all have gone equally evil. They have gone cancerous beyond treatment and only solution is mercy killing. Let the whole world join together and decide to do that for the sake of peace in the world.

I think you mean that any group who have designs on power and control will always hijack a populist movement as a vehicle to manipulate the wider population into supporting their power agenda.

With religion, it's easy to do, because it strikes at the very heart of people's personal beliefs. With science, e.g genetics, it has the justification and legitimacy of the so called "expert" within the society. All nicely acceptable carriers for ulterior political motives.

Thats a bit of a knee jerk reaction isn't it, you have to remember that there are millions of believers of religion in the world, and most of them live quiet peacefull lifes following the teachings of peace and love that there particular brand preaches.
What your saying is the same as saying lets get rid of all cars because some idiots drive them like they are crazy.

I dont believe in any gods, but I do believe that you maybe need to think of a better solution.

religion IS the main cause of the worlds problems.always has been and always will be.you just have to look through history to see this.people are stupid if they can't see this!i'm not saying you can't have a religion, just respect everyone elses' choices.if they choose not to be religious respect that.surely thats what it's about?tolerating and respecting other people, their beliefs and feelings.if you religious people can't do this then surely you are just biggots?

do you think politicians actually believe what they say they're fighting for? who's going argue (besides the outspoken few) when you claim a religious offense in a religious country? it's a hush tactic and has no place in politics. if your going to war, at least have the fuzzies to tell the truth about why.
