Was the division of the Church a good thing?

Would you have preferred that the protestant reformation never occurred and that the church had remained united? Perhaps reform could have occurred from within. Perhaps theology would have evolved to fit the times.

Or instead, are you glad that there are more Christian denominations than anyone can count? Does this prove confusing to both Christians and non-Christians alike? Perhaps reform had been attempted and it was deemed impossible. Perhaps speaking with many voices has a way of attracting a more diverse group of followers.

Would you like to see the church reunited into one Church? What characteristics would the reconfigured church have?

Ok there are so many MISGUIDED ideas about other religions on here, so this is what I'm am asking of you...WITHOUT, bashing (even mentioning) a religion other than yours, tell me what your religion is, and its basic principles. Lets try to educate each other a bit on our religions, ideologies, etc.. I don't mean quote scripture, just tell us what your religion stands for.

For example: Technically I am Christian, However, I am that way only because I believe in Christ, not the entire bible, or all Christian ideas. I think all religions have valid points. I just do not affiliate with any "organized" religions. So tell me what your religious views are.
REMEMBER: NO BASHING, Please!!!!

I've never heard God talk before in my entire life. I used to be a Christian, and I never bought into the God talk thing. People say you can feel God talk to your heart, but I never felt anything like that. The few times that I prayed, I felt like I was just talking to myself.

I think people who claim to be spoken to by God are delusional. They have been told over and over that God speaks to people to the point that their mind mistakes its own thoughts for the voice or word of God. Is this not some form of schizophrenia?

I am a Christain myself. Here is the question that really perplexes me: if God is omniscient, does he know what our thoughs and actions will be in the future? Where does "free-will" come into play?

When I was a pagan, we used to have full moon ceremonies where we would honor the moon. We would burn tobacco offerings in a sacred fire, and send prayers to the "great spirit".

Although I'm a Christian now, It still interests me, to hear what everybody's religions and culture is all about.

Please specify the act(s) that demonstrate your claim.

And, please state whether or not you have read the Old Testament.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

IF you want to be considered for "best answer," read the following:

I will ignore any answer that says "He died on the cross." (or words to that effect)

I will ignore any answer that attempts to sermonize rather than answer the question. (e.g., "God loves you so much he did all kinds of things that you just don't understand. .. blah, blah, blah).

Please be concise (short) and to the point.

Thanks.

Anyone can say he/she is a believer. But as "Wise" man once said, "you can tell a tree by its fruit. A good tree will bear good fruits and a bad tree will bear bad fruits." Now, what belief would you choose?

If so, are you aware of the following?

As a member of Congress, Thomas Jefferson, at 33, drafted the Declaration of Independence. In years following he labored to make its words a reality in Virginia. Most notably, he wrote a bill establishing religious freedom, enacted in 1786.

In his autobiography, he wrote: "Jesus as the source of religious liberty was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection: the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination."

In fact, Jefferson himself was not Christian, he considered himself a Deist (which means that he believes in God but does not believe in Christs ressurrection).
Benjamin Franklin, who was also a signer of the Declaration of Independance was an agnostic who is on record as "strongly doubting the divinity of Jesus Christ." Franklin did, however promote that ALL religions express some morality and goodness.

You always hear these Christians claiming that Allah is a false God. Of course, that's just stupid! Muslims should start annoying Christians by claiming Yahweh is false and see what happens. hahahaha.
