You would be hard pressed to find more different branches of the Christian Church. Here are some of the differences:

WORSHIP: Episcopalian is ritually formal, following the Book of Common Prayer, an agreed upon set of sacramental services and readings.
Pentecostal is free-form, often leading to members speaking in tongues and displaying flights of religious ecstacy.,

GOVERNMENT: "Episcopal" means "governed by a Bishop."
Pentecostals are congregationally governed with a loose variety of central organizations.

THEOLOGY: Episcopalians have a variety of beliefs, but tend toward the liberal end of Christianity.
Pentecostals also have a variety of beliefs, but instead tend toward the conservative end of Christianity.

CULTURALLY: Episcopalians are by and large more wealthy, better educated, and more likely to descend from northern European ethnic groups.
Pentecostals are more likely to be poor, not so well educated, and to descend from Hispanic and African ethnic groups.

I'm Pentecostal, COGIC, and I've taught in an Episcopal Boys school. Episcopalians are more like Catholics. They worship idols too.
Pentecosts are more free in their religion, we have singing, praising the Lord openly, and not in a rote manner. We hear the word, and the pastor breaks it down for us. There can be people shouting and praising the Lord so much, that they might start speaking in tongues.
Episcopalians use a hymnal, and sing old songs. It's really quite boring.
To have an exciting relationship with the Lord, Pentecostal is the way to go. For a mundane time to drive you to boredom, the Episcopalians have what you're looking for.
It depends on what kind of relationship with God you want.

RE: Abriel-----
Abriel, there are no venomous snakes in the Pentecostal religion, you must be thinking of Santeria or some other religion that is not Pentecostal. Have you ever been to a Pentecostal church where someone was dancing with a snake? I know you have not. I haven't either, and believe me, I would have left if I did. That's ridiculous. What does a snake have to do with God?

RE:---nhbaritone

You have it the other way around. We could wear pants, but not in the sanctuary. This is called respect. And as far as uneducated, both of my parents and their 4 children attended college, including myself. We are Black Indians, and the majority of the congregation was Black, but there were some whites there too. It really would depend on the community. Most of the people that I grew up with are quite successful: One was a famous singer and dancer, who is now my cousin by marriage, (my cousin married her aunt) by the name of Jody Asta Lavista Baby, Last name W? She's more rich than most Whites I know, and her grandfather and her father were Pentacostal ministers! In fact, her grandfather performed my wedding ceremony. I'm a teacher, so is my older sister, and one of my sisters just cut a CD in Georgia. So your assumptions are quite offensive and wrong. By the way, I married the brother of an NBA star as well, and my brother in Law, another Pentacostal minister, is more rich than most Whites too.
And you're correct that we don't believe in the holy trinity, because no where in the bible are those words. The holy trinity would denote that there are 3 Gods, and that just isn't so. God is not 3 different beings.
There are 3 that bear record in heaven, and they are God the Father, He that is---
God the son, or the word of God,
Jesus---
and God the Holy Spirit that impregnated
Mary.

That is why we say that Jesus is God.

In the beginning was the word, and the word was God, and the word was with God.

We baptise in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.

Maybe you should have stayed long enough to get correct information.

Episcopal is like a diet version of Catholicism. Pentacostals take the bible literly and have lively services and talk in tongues and are much more simple and oldfashion in their appearance and put much emphasis on the holy spirit whereas Episcopals are like most other protestant sects.

Pentacostals believe in speaking in tongues and divine healings; and I think Episcopalians are the American branch of what used to be the Church of England. I am a Pentacostal! God Bless!

I am not familiar with Episcopal but I will hopefully give you insight into the Pentecostal sect for once I was one. First they do not believe in the Holy Trinity. THey follow a Oneness doctrine that says that God,Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all God. They do not baptize in the Trinity but rather in 'Jesus name' from Acts2:38. THey do not believe in a once saved always saved life style. Backsliding will result in a future in hell unless you find forgiveness again. THey also believe that salvation requires repentance, baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues as given from above. Pentecostals also follow a set of rules that they preach are given from the Bible such not cutting a woman's hair ever, women wearing only dresses, and men never wearing pants. Most pentecostal men are clean shaven and the women never wear make up or jewelry other than a watch or wedding band. Others believe in no television or worldly music. Their services are real different too. THe gifts of the Spirit are encouraged strongly to be exercised -- messages in tongues, prophecy, interpretation. It is not rare to find some running around the inner church during worship, raised hands, dancing in the Spirit, people speaking in tongues, and healings. The pentecost faith is intense and if lived out as written in their doctrine requires alot of self discipline. Fasting is a refular practice also with them. I encourage to try a church near you and see for yourself that the Spirit of God is definetly in their services and they are intense times of worship and praise for God.

The Episcopalians, otherwise known as the Church of England, were created during the reign of King Henry VIII when he broke away from the Catholic church. They are very much like Catholicism...think Catholic Lite.

The Pentecostals were created a tad more recently, and are a Protestant branch. They are Evangelical, meaning that they believe in spreading the word about their faith to others, and are Fundementalists, meaning that they take the Bible completely literallly without question. Some of their practices include talking in tongues, faith healing, dancing with venomous snakes, etc.

the substantial huge difference is contained in the Episcopal Church you do not ought to envision your mind on the door. The Pope isn't the only and in straightforward words chief and selection maker. Bishops contained in the Episcopal church are elected. Social themes contained in the Episcopal Church are more effective prepared to no longer decide existence in many places. there is not any maximum skill who makes judgements. The Catholic Church runs as a dictatorship, The Episcopal Church is more effective democratic.
