I've never heard God talk before in my entire life. I used to be a Christian, and I never bought into the God talk thing. People say you can feel God talk to your heart, but I never felt anything like that. The few times that I prayed, I felt like I was just talking to myself.
I think people who claim to be spoken to by God are delusional. They have been told over and over that God speaks to people to the point that their mind mistakes its own thoughts for the voice or word of God. Is this not some form of schizophrenia?

People who claim that dead people talk to them are probably also mentally ill. They've been told that ghosts exist, so they mistake something in their head as being a ghost.

Some may be crazy, but for the most part I think it's just crowd mentality...if the group claims that God talks to people then more people in that group are likely to make the same claim.

Mentally ill? No.
"I've never heard God talk before in my entire life"
Perhaps you weren't listening.
God speaks through His word. You can read the same passage over and over and, one time, you notice something that speaks to you. Another angle or another concept.
The Pericletus, the Comforter, the Helper, the Holy Spirit speaks as a small voice. Similar to your conscience, but not your thoughts.
Christ can choose to speak to an individual. If He does you will never ever forget it. Ever. You are imprinted.
You, and other readers, may find this foolishness.
That's OK - it changes nothing.

I've never heard of someone being classified as mentally ill if they claim to have return of convresation from God. The thing is, that God doesn't speak through words. He speaks through your heart. And your heart interprets the feelings into words. I have experienced the movement of God in my life and I have experience with the way he speaks. Prayer being classified as Paranoid Schizophrenia is a way for non-believers to to justify what prayer scientifically is.

No,we are not mentally ill,God does talk to us but sometimes people don`t know how to hear him!I didn`t to begin with, then the Holy Spirit began to teach me!It`s also very hard to describe to someone who doesn`t understand.Pray and ask him for this.

I think so. I worry about people like that. When the voices in your head start telling you to do things, somethings wrong with you. Get some pills. See a psychiatrist.

Its probably not God, but maybe a message from their spirit guides from God. Some people have the natural ability to make contact with the other side and don't understand their gift.

God talks to me everyday. Through His word. Its called the Bible
The Holy Spirit also directs us....however, you will only be given the graces that you are disposed to receive. If its a joke to you, then you will never experience it. Maybe thats been your problem
