Please don't answer "God", "Jesus", "love", or anything religious. What is it that God or religion (or anything else) can BRING to people in this world right now to make it better? As James said, "Faith without works is dead."

I believe that if they exist at all, they are nowhere near as radical as they have been described.

It's just a star that has collapsed in on itself and become a lot smaller and a lot more dense. It's gravitational pull is astronomically more powerful than the average star and anything that gets close enough will get pulled into its surface and destroyed. I don't see the point in making such a big deal out of the fact that the object is crushed by the star's force before crashing into its surface. That just clouds the issue. It completely takes attention away from the crash into the solid surface. That coupled with the name "Hole" causes misunderstandings.

I doubt that black holes give off light. Not because their gravitational pull is so strong, but because they aren't burning anymore. They are also likely to be encased in a cloud of discharge that exists outside of their "Event Horizon".

These things are based on observation of our own sun, metals on Earth, and dense objects.

Is it because they think that they get a free pass from God for having the fish displayed, thereby making it okay to drive like a dick?

I under stand that atheisit hate christians cause we come to your door and bother you with our teachings.

Why do you have to bash it so much though?

Since majority of people in prison are black and black people commit most crimes....I should hate all black people then?

Regarding my earlier question. There were a few good answers from christians who have enough balls to at least look at outside opinions, but I also got the sense that many of them were reading other holy books so they could say 'Ah see? They screwed up here. It's all wrong."

There is the idea that I may have read the bible but since I don't have 'The Holy Spirit' there's no way for me to understand it. For example:
"There is nothing for you in The Bible...it is not intended for you as an enemy of God... read it all you want though... it makes no difference....unless you alow The Holy Spirit to guide your study...You will remain in ignorence of God's Word and Will."

The next most popular answer was:
"Should I read a million instruction manuals to a million radios to find out if the 1 instruction manual to my radio is true?"

By this, I mean, explain the significance of age in REGARDS to decisions we make through out our life time. Is it fair that we constantly make decisions for our future, where when the future arrives, many times we look back on the decision we made when we were young and realize it has no relevance to our future goals? That, as we are young, we never fully understand what we will want in the future, therefore impairing our ability to make decisions for our future selves? If so, what may be the purpose of aging altogether, in your opinion? What can we learn from our decision making mistakes if it is inevitable?
Serious answerers only, please.

Serious question here people! 'Big Love' has got me really interested in polygamy and people's views on it. Also, is it illegal in the states? If so, what states? How about here in the UK?

This was a response to another's question re: "Do you think that some people just can't and never will be Christian?"

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtKFdTnkNrdH8b3E_e5KEOXzy6IX?qid=20060808121320AAGhihq

Does anyone else see this answer - "God just doesn't want some people" - as being elitist, prejudiced, and hypocritical?

And doesn't this contradict the philosophy of free will?

So those who are "Christian" don't choose to believe, but they are chosen by and wanted by God?

Anyone who is not a "Christian" is not chosen and unwanted?

Wow - of all that I have read on Y!A and all that I have experienced in my life, I think that this statement truly solidifies my refusal to be a "Christian".

But I am relieved to know that it isn't my choice - it's just that "God doesn't want me."
