Buddhism is not a religion, it is a way of life. They work toward inner peace. There is no god.

Every religion is just a set of laws meant to benifit it's adherents.

Most religions were concieved more than a 1000 years ago, the youngest major ones being Islam and Christianity. In India you had Sikhism that was born between 500 and 200 years ago.

Knowledge of many things as we know them was limited, sketchy, or simply not there. So of lot of things that we know are unlikely were attrinuted to the unknown, miracles etc.

Every religion is generally good, so don't go around trying to punch holes into something you have no clue about!

Buddhism is not so much a religion as it is a philosophy. The Buddha never claimed that it was the one true religion; he simply provided the Dharma as a means to help eliminate suffering from the world and sought to cultivate compassion.

Much of what I have read on Y!A regarding Buddhism is pretty misinformed. I try to help sort things out and direct people to reliable sources of information, but ...

And one can gain from the study of Buddhist thought regardless of what religion one may practice. But how many religions have room for this?

And Christians will generally claim that any religion outside of their own is "false". Anyone who doesn't accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah is gonna burn in hell for all eternity.

It makes much less in the way of claims than other religions. If it makes few supernatural claims, then it's much more difficult to be proven false.

Although I am an atheist, I am very open to the teachings of the Buddha. I see no contradiction whatsoever in that.

Zen Buddhism is more about unlearning than learning. It's a personal relationship with yourself. You unlearn old habits and, through experience gain knowledge about how to proceed without causing unnecessary suffering.

The proof is totally personal.

Buddhism (especially Zen) is not a religion.
One can be a Buddhist Christian if one chooses.

Zen is about realities you can see and experience. It does not address the metaphysical.

If you asked a Buddhist "Is there a god?" he's likely to say "Since you cannot know...... why are you asking?"

im a Buddist but im just really following it. i really dont think there's a god like if god created earth, who created him and who in the world knew so much about god that they can write the bible describing everything. everytime i hear the word bible i think "someone in the bc time wrote a bestselling book to make tons of money and they suceeded." i always think like how can people think that theres a god because a book said..."theres a god and u better believe it."?

I love the natural pure atheistic buddhism. Not so much into the one where people worship him. It can't be proven false, especially not by Bible verses. .

I have no issue with buddhism, and I hate people who start a request with "prove to me...".
