All the time we see on here the fierce debates and argument all on the topic of Christianity... if all those hardcore atheists are so die hard then why don't they spend more time fighting with other religions...???

Maybe because none of the other religions try to recruit them incessantly or tell them they are going to burn in Hell because of a difference of opinion.

Firstly, I'd like to clear something up,

Atheism is not about slamming Christians, or any other religions for that matter,

It's about making a conscious decision to not conform with religious beliefs.

Atheists are people who don't agree with/believe and/or challenge the teachings of the bible etc, in just the same way as skeptics choose not to believe in the spirit realm that mediums/psychics etc believe in.

My take is that we are all fully capable of making a choice to either believe or not believe in something, relevant to all aspects of life, and no one has the right to take that choice away. After all, we do live in a democratic world today, and isn't the essence of democracy about having options and making choices based on those options?

Thanks for putting forward such a thought-provoking comment, I enjoyed answering xx

Most people here are from the U.S. or some other country where Christianity is the dominant religion. It makes sense that we're more bothered by Christians than by people of other religions because Christians are the ones in control. Christians are the ones who have the most rights. They're the ones who try to get laws passed that limit the rights of non-Christians (e.g. teaching creationism in schools, prayer in school and Congress, emphasis on Christian background in politics, et cetera).

Atheists don't run into as many problems with Buddhists or whoever, since many people of minority religions want the same thing atheists want--a secular country with freedom of (and from) religion.

1. Christians expect persecution, it makes them think they have the true faith. We're only providing a service to them for which we never get any thanks. You're welcome by the way.

2. A wealth of material, no one provides ammo for bashing like Christians, especially when they try to use science or logic. If you're going to try and use them you better be ready for anything because you are now in the Atheists wheelhouse.

3. They're the main group that tries to convert you. You get some Muslims in here trying to convert but they mosly leave links, they don't get into much discussion.

4. Most are ex - Christians so we know what we're talking about

Because the other religions are not telling us that we have to do things their way to escape hell, and they are not shoving their beliefs down our throat and demanding huge amounts of money. Not everybody wants to be a bigot, and not everybody wants to be forced to believe in fairy tales.

But of course you won't care about that when the rapture takes place. When the dead in Christ rise out of their graves (leaving a great mess in the graveyards) and when the living in Christ go through roof-tops to the sky (immune to dropping temperatures and thinning oxygen) and when all fly away for millions of light years beyond the farthest star, then the beliefs of atheists will be the last thing on your mind.

So, if Christians minded their own business and stopped trying to take over the world and make everybody follow them, then maybe atheists would not have to stick up for themselves quite as much.

I bash Islam too. But since I'm intimately familiar with Christianity, I concentrate on it.

Islam and Christianity are really the only two religions causing serious problems.

See, well, when you want to make an example of something, you take the biggest baddest mutha around and knock them the jaft out. So, when atheists can take the Christians down a peg, everyone else can view that as an example of what's to come for them too in the end.

I don't "fight" just Christians, more like debate and provide logical explanations with a variety of peoples. Unfortunately, there is an abundance of Christians. Perhaps because of the holy crusades, oh ya, and privately funded occupations.

It's because the Christian religion... or those who follow it rather tend to be the most outspoken against atheists, and tend to work the hardest at destroying knowledge and progress. At least in my part of the world.

See some of my questions towards Islam. I think theirs is a dumb religion which glorifies oppression of women and teaches violence and hatred towards the "infidel". I mean, Americans are dumb and fat, but we're not evil, our people in the Christian West have good hearts, at least we don't leave dead babies at the side of the road like in non-religious China (most Western atheists/agnostics have the hugest bleeding empathetic hearts who couldn't hurt a fly) or would ever think of blowing our own children up, even if we were promised virgins in heaven! I thank God the religious in this country doubt enough to keep their sanity.

and most of the atheists and agnostics were born into christianity ( we ARE living in a majority christian land) , so most of us know the ins and outs of your (our own) religion, despite denominational variables, something which you usually don't give us credit for.
