I think religions are pretty much a curious cultural phenomena and that when you strip them to what should be their bare essential, it ends up just being the Golden Rule, you know, "Do unto others...".
Sadly it seems to me they get caught up in non essential crap like "Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins" ot "Mohammed was the last and true profet" or "Moses took his people to the promised land". Who cares? If there is a God, shouldn't he be above anything religions throw at us?

We see it in nature.
Is this a valid point?

If god is all knowing, in every sense and is all powerful without limitation the idea of free will seems contradictory. God creates you knowing what path you will walk, and knowing how you will choose (to follow or not to follow)... since you are HIS creation and he knows all that you will do, ist it fair to say that hre created you to do it?

Lets say he is creating a man who he knows will grow up to be a serial killer. From the very moment the mans heart first beats god knows he will be a killer... the man grows up and becomes a killer... wouldnt you say that god then created him to be a killer?

The only way that Free-Will could exist, is if God doesnt know what you are going to do.... or if God has no plan for you... or God has no hand in how you are created...

Its like me dropping a penny into a well. I know it is going to fall to the bottom, I set everything in motion for it to do that... could you say that I threw it into the well, or I mearly let go and it dropped itself in?

He was a Jew
He was married
He worshiped on the Sabbath
Didn't eat pork, shellfish etc.
I see no mention of the Catholic church in the Bible.
He never admonished praying to the virgin mary.

Very few christains of woking population attend church leaving it to children, the old and the unfit. Some do not even pray except when in trouble.
I see muslims pray everywhere and I think all classes attend prayers at mosques.

What is a good little prayer to say with a baby or a little child. When I was little we said the "now I lay me down to sleep" one. I have a 10 month old and I want to start saying prayers with him.

All the resurrections in the Bible happened here on earth--not in heaven. So, where did Christendom got the idea that Christians will go to heaven when they die?

Just finished watching "The Mists of Avalon" (Earth Mother/ Sky Father) and "Waterworld" (Earth Mother/Poseidon Father).

I noticed that Judaism, Christianity and Islam (all paternal/monotheistic) have cut off the rejuvenating/nurturing/connecting aspects so obvious in some maternal religions.

I'm curious as to why we lost those qualities in religion.

I'm wondering if rising population densities placing increasing pressures on resources thus placing increasing pressures on those populations to sustain themselves might have led to a more paternal/warlike structure that eventually replaced the Earth Mother.

Comments? Useful information?

P.S. And no, I don't think the Virgin Mary counts. For one thing, she is not worshipped as a Goddess.

Well, my family and I got in an argument about how God does love all kinds of people even homosexuals-as long as they follow in his word or guidelines, although are gay (because they are attracted to their same gender sexually etc. ) they don't have intercourse with the same sex, or even kiss-because they know it's wrong. But, my family says that no matter what, God doesn't love them, because they are homosexuals. If you know a passage in the bibile that says God loves all kinds of people, or the guidelines that he permits of people who feel different-it'd be great if you could tell me, I want to prove them wrong. Someone in my speech class had the passage about God loving homosexuals as long as they follow the guidelines, because he was pro-gay and was debating about it and used the bible (the passage) for his argument.

Peter once walked with Jesus and knew Him well, but he denied Him. He truly regretted what he had done.

just ask Jesus to become your Savior. He's paved the path for you to get to Heaven, you simply have to acknowledge Him, and you get to walk the path! He paved it for you two millenia ago. He is longing for you to become His child. don't turn Him down. He is your only hope.

if you want to go to Heaven when you die, accept Jesus. say this prayer (it can be outloud or to yourself--either way God knows your heart and your thoughts) NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

"Jesus, I know what you did for me. I know I am a sinner, I know I don't deserve you. But, by your grace I am saved. I ask you now to come into my heart and become my Light in the dark, my Comforter and my Best Friend. Thanks God for allowing Me to have a way to enter Heaven. In Jesus's name, Amen."

Thats all. If you said that prayer, and meant it with all of your heart, soul, and mind, you are ETERNALLY SECURE IN GOING TO HEAVEN! Congratulations, you did it. God bless those who meant that prayer.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts they shall heap to themselves teachers, telling them what they want to hear, and their ears shall be turned away from the truth..." (2Tim. 4:3)

Are you one of those helping to show the truthfulness of this Bible prediction? ?
