Because they are in the valley of decision. Satan lies to them all the time. When a teen believes the lies enouph, can get suicidal.
Actually, any one can, if one believes lies.
God's truth is out there. Seek & you shall find. The truth will set you free.

Simply because they are not being heard. They are thrown from childhood into an adult setting they are not ready for. They are expected to make adult decisions and when they finally do make a decision it is usually wrong. They need the same love and guidance they had as little ones only on their level. A kind word goes a long way. A cruel word goes further in like a knife. All teen children go through the rough spots in their life. It is called attempting to mature but not quite knowing how. They will undoubtedly turn to drugs or alcohol to escape the realities of life after a while if no one is there to pick them up when they fall. This is a time when parents need to be a big influence in the child's life, not distancing themselves due to the lip problem that develops with the teen. A child needs a good foundation from which to grow. Faith in Jesus is a sure start. Parents that care are a good start.

No single factor has gained acceptance as a universal cause of suicide. However, depression is a common phenomenon amongst those who commit suicide. Other factors that may be related are as follows:
Pain (e.g. physical agony that is not correctable)
Religious reasons (e.g. many suicide bombings in the Middle East have been based on Islamic fundamentalism)
Extreme nationalism (e.g. the Kamikaze, Selbstopfer, and Kaiten suicide weapons)
Stress, sometimes after being the cause of a fatal accident (especially if the victim was their child or significant other)
Hopelessness
Depression caused by something such as bipolar disorder
Crime — Criminals on the run may commit suicide before they're caught, or they may commit suicide right before they get on trial. In these cases, they would rather die than to face the legal and social consequences of their actions.
Mental illness and disability
Substance abuse
Poverty/Misery due to one's location
As a result of Bullying or discrimination (known as bullycide)
Unwanted homosexuality
Boredom
Morbid curiosity (i.e. what is beyond physical life)

you may find this an incredible answer ... but i think alot of teens also reach a point where they feel so popular and so wanted by others and then have a vision if they end it now that they will be remembered ... and they foresee a future where they lose that. a self deception stemming from a realization that there perfection will not continue but will degradate with time. i almost decided to kill myself when i was a teen and very popular ... no reason other than i saw an end to that and wanted to be as i was forever. i know ... im weird i think lol ... glad i didnt do it now :)

The teenage years are very emotionally tumultous ones because of huge hormonal changes and because of huge changes in their societal and familial status to name but two, and so the pressure to change from being a child to being an adult is enormous, and combine that with the enormous hormonal activity in them, it's a wonder anybody actually makes it to adulthood. But the vast majority does, and so it tells me that God did a dang good job at creation, and if we'll just be patient, which is tough for teens for all the reaons I noted above, we'll make it through just fine. I did, and sometimes I wonder how, but God stuck with me, and here I am, like it or not. God Bless you.

Religion teaches the meaning of life, but in the recent centuries people refuse to turn to it, the parents have no divine knowledge to teach their children the spiritual values of service to the society, sacrifice to their fellowmen, submission to the Will of God, so the children become dull, boring, lonely...and the result becomes more and more alarming! The radical change calls for a serious return to God and His Cause through His Revelation for this age.
Please urgently seek for the truth to save yourselves and save the next generations.

I have to honestly say, I have thought about commiting suicide. For me it was because of how much stress there is. People get picked on, and feel very insecure because they want to be accepted.

Because nobody has ever really introduced them to the God who loves them and created them to love, the God who has a plan for them. If people could just help them see their relationship with the God who created them, they would be certain of His love and His plan for their lives and would not consider suicide.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Without the God of hope, it's a pretty hopeless world to live in.
