I think religions are pretty much a curious cultural phenomena and that when you strip them to what should be their bare essential, it ends up just being the Golden Rule, you know, "Do unto others...".
Sadly it seems to me they get caught up in non essential crap like "Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins" ot "Mohammed was the last and true profet" or "Moses took his people to the promised land". Who cares? If there is a God, shouldn't he be above anything religions throw at us?

Ive always looked at organized religion as "God Fan Clubs" each one claims to be the best and His #1 fan club and argue with all the other fan clubs about who knows Him better and who He loves more etc

However those who know Him personally do not need to join a fan club.

Religion, in my opinion has turned into a business. I approach my Faith as a direct relationship with God. Cut out the middle man sort of thing! I do not need people, pastor's Rabbi's or whoever telling me what how and why I should believe or act. I have a brain and a choice I will look at any facts I can find and go from there! The reference to the "Non-essential crap" like Jesus being sacrificed however is definitely not "non-essential" in fact it is essential. If that is what you have determined to be true, which I have!

People who have only weak sentimental love for everybody often don't practice practical kindness to individuals. The Bible puts what we should and shouldn't do to apply the golden rule into very specific acts such as honor your father and mother, do not kill, do not steal etc. That is a good thing. However, as a Christian I don't believe in trying to force my religion onto anybody. It has brought me happiness, though and I do reccomend it.

Yeah. And if He didn't have any issues with showing off his "magic powers" through Jesus (praise be upon him) in the past, what's up with the last 2000 years? I mean, where's Jesus now, when we need him?
