I was brought up Christian, don’t get me wrong.
Everything I learn was taught to me (should I dare to say brain washed to believe) , but without facts or evidence, and there are so many ubiquities.
Plus in the past they used to torture or incarcerate anyone who went against the religion. But one of the commandments thou shall not kill. But they did, if you said anything agains them, that proved the bible was inaccurate.
Example Christmas birth date of Jesus , he wasn’t born on the 25 of December, and why does this follow one calendar, and Easter follow another.
There is tons of evidence on evolution, but almost nothing about creation no real dates. Even the Bible was written decades after the fact, and has been re-written a dozen time, meanings change over time.
Why does the church try to cover up?
Or Re-interpret to make it fit
I was also taught other religions was false (thou shall not have false gods) no wonder so many wars start because of religion
Confused

Mentally I know that suicide is not the answer to my pain. Emotionally it seems like it is. It would stop the pain. But I also mentally, intellecutally know that is not the answer. I have a loving wife I have been married to for only 2 weeks, a loving son of 15 years, a new loving daughter of 13 and all sorts of other family both my side and my wife's side. I have a great job and a great life ahead of me but I am feeling so depressed it is hard to go on. I try to express it in poetry and in words. I spent two hours last night with the pastor of my church but my emotional nature will not fall in line. Prayer is not helping nothing is. I am already on one anti-depressant from before to make sure I dont get worse.
The trigger was a recent death at work. The man I did not know so well, reminds me of the death of my last really close best friend. Since then I am finding waves of emotion flowing over me. Increasing the pain with each breaking wave. My mind can't able to process it. Help me

I'm sure he doesn't want us to forget him, but if he is the holy father wouldn't he want his children to mature and be able to take care of themselves instead of always asking him for help?

Most of the atheists answering here have read the Bible, and I suspect quite a few have read the Qu'ran.

Have any of you opened your minds enough to look at it from the other side?

Or have you, more relevantly, read any book by Richard Dawkins or any evolutionary biologist?

(Books by fringe scientists who have produced no significant scientific research who have published anti-evolution books do not count because they do not count as opening your mind).

Have ye no care for thy eternal soul? Wilt thou into the abyss be cast that believeth the doctrine of thy father, the devil?

God sacrificed His son, Jesus, for mankind so that one day we will be able to dwell in His kingdom forever. Why do some people INSIST that God "killed" His son??? Jesus' crucifixion was His destiny. He wasn't meant to be here forever.

How can we ultimately excorcise religion outta the soul of our Mother Earth with all there religious types fighting and killing each other? I mean is there a way to lift this planet above and beyond DaJe-VQQDQQ?! It might seem funny to some of you but we have a serious problem here and that is these religious types to pathetically entrenched into their beliefs to see the Truth let alone the light-They believe this world is going to end and so do the things that are helping to end it rather than support the scientific evidence that shows that driving an automobile is dangerous to the health of this planet-I mean come on Jesus walked everywhere WHY CAN'T THEY! and Jesus did not use electricity that burned tons of coal-I mean to tell you that so long as Religious types place there hearts and souls into this image that they see is protecting them then they have an excuse for MURDERING MOTHER EARTH-Jesus needs to be excorcised from her Spirit and Soul-as well as Muhammed and Allah and ALL!

if the universe were actually billions of years old, like it is, then that means that humans aren't all that important in the grand scheme of things?

Since the cosmos has existed for so long without humans, then the earth and the human race are pretty much meaningless when compared to everything else. The entire history of the human race isn't even a mote of dust. We are insignificant.

Since religious people thrive on their egomaniacal interpretations of existence, does this mean that the only idea they will accept is a young earth? A young earth would make humans (and their religions) appear much more important than they actually are.

Of course, there is that whole 'everything in the bible is true' nonsense as well.

In the Bible's Book Of Ruth, Naomi tells Ruth to uncover Boaz's feet and then lay beside him. What is the significance of uncovering someone's feet?

there was a previous question stating something to this affect ..... come on, there is no logic to that, how in the world could a world just happen to make a war happen exactly like the Bible said it would happen. How could specific details be acted on and actually turn out right. What are the odds? The odds of any Governing body being able to pull off something like that is crazy. It would be impossible. The fact is that it was prophecized and happen because there is God who know everything past, present and future!!

Who agrees?

I hate my life and i wish i was aborted when my mom had the chance, and dont give me bullshit of what if i was in a loving family, thats bullshit theres very little chance that would have happened i lived in a half-ased foster home with half ased perants. And dont give me bullshit about an aborted child finding cures int he future or what not ,what about the more than 90,000,000 WANTED children who live in the U.S. dont they have a better chance to find a cure for cancer than the few unwanted children, unwanted children have better chance that they will become crminals or dictator or a drug dealer. its dangerously optomistic to think that the majority of unwanted children will be left in a loving family, the reality the real reality is the majority dont go to loving homes espicially since you dont want gays to adopt kids, i swear to god one of these days im going to lose it and go to one of those anti-abortionist groups and make them pay for the suffering that they have caused me.

If the Bible is the sole authority of Christian Theology, why is there not one quoted word by Jesus listed in the Bible to write a new Scripture in ink?

A co-worker's spouse has recently passed. Both my co-worker and his wife observed the Jewish faith. I am wanting to send a card, but it is nearly impossible to find one around my area. I am making one.

My biggest concern is that, since I know very very little of Judaism, what is an appropriate message? Is there anything (other than the name of G-d) that shoudl absolutely not be in there? Would an appropriate scripture verse from the Old Testament be appropriate?

Thanks!

It's called Kumi Ori, it was written by a Messianic Jew named Batya Segal.
"arise, shine, the light has come; the glory of the Lord has risen upon you."

I had it on CD some years ago, but can't find it again. I've searched Napster, and pretty much the whole internet, to no avail. Can anyone help me?
