God sacrificed His son, Jesus, for mankind so that one day we will be able to dwell in His kingdom forever. Why do some people INSIST that God "killed" His son??? Jesus' crucifixion was His destiny. He wasn't meant to be here forever.

God did not kill Jesus...God sent His only Son to live a sinless life and be allowed to die a sin-bearing death. The New Testament clearly states that the Jews at that time and place crucified Jesus.

Why did God send His Son? Read John 3:16. God first loved us while we were sinners...sin separates us from God...we are all sinners (Rom. 3:23)...we justly deserve death and eternal torment in the lake of fire...we cannot earn our way into heaven or God's favor.

But...

God loved us so much, He sent His Son to make a way...a way to be restored to the Father...a way to inherit eternal life. In a way, the Bible is a love story - still being played out - bringing people back into fellowship with God the Father...through the Gift of His Son.

According to the bible, Jehovah sacrificed "his son" for his own pleasure, to satisfy his own anger and sense of spitefulness, because Jehovah made the rules, wrote the script, cast the characters and even wrote his own reviews. According to the bible (written by men) Jehovah could have done away with sin from the beginning, could have sent a host of heavenly beings to Earth to "prove" his godliness or any one of a million different things which would have resulted in a happier ending for Jesus and every human being on the planet. According to the bible Jehovah chose to open the gates of hell, let "his son" be tortured and killed, etc. Believing in the bible is like believing 'God' is a lunatic.

Biblicly, Jesus death was just an intricate suicide. He was born knowing that he was going to die in a gruesome manner, but did nothing to avoid it. He chose to die. He had 30some years to figure out hiw to live, but chose to be a martyr for his invisible sky-daddy. That is suicide.

Where's the sacrifice? He knew he would spend a couple of days in agony for the reward of an eternity in Heaven. That is considerably less suffering than many of the faithful live with on a daily basis, and infinitely more reward than even the most faithful can hope for.

Then there's this blood of the lamb washing away your sins nonsense. Jesus supposedly died for our sins, but mysteriously, we are all still sinners. There seems to be something wrong there. Supposedly, Christians are saved by the blood of Jesus, but they all still believe they are still sinners. So, if the blood of Jesus didn't cleanse your sin, then what good is his death? With the possible exception of a few sick puppies among you, I strongly believe that Christians would be very opposed to actually bathing in human blood for any reason, yet as a symbol it is one of the most commonly shared visual regurgutated by those of the faith.

Just out of curiosity, why does an all-powerful God need to have his own son die just so he can forgive us for our sins? Sounds like a serious character flaw in Jehovah's code of ethics. God may be so powerful that he cannot create a stone he cannot lift, but seems to lack the capacity to forgive without bloodshed.

Would you, as a Christian, feel it necessary for one of your children to die under ANY circumstances in order to forgive another one of your children? My guess would be "No!", you would not. I'm also guessing you would find the idea reprehensible and immoral. Yet, you worship a God who did that very thing to his own child (Jesus), because it was the only way he forgive his other children (mankind).

You follow a sick, demented belief system.

On the surface, that's how it looks. I remember a Christmas song called "Born to Die," about how Jesus was "born to die" from the beginning, sent here to die for our sins. Most parents don't bear children thinking right away that they're going to die a brutal death, you know? And if parents are afraid of it, they try to do something about it. So I understand that to you and other Christians, there is a deeper and better meaning to it, but I'm trying to give you an idea of how it can look from the outside.

Know what, Jesus' sacrifice was determined BEFORE the foundation of the world...before Adam and Eve were around.

Lesbian Virginia Mollenkott, who was a stylist for the NIV perversion of the Bible, claimed that God was an abusive parent for this.

It's just a story - no one was "sacrificed" and Jesus was not the son of God. It's called Mythology.

They are reading too much Old Testament about God's wrath. Those scriptures were written to hard people.

it's like not preventing somene from killing someone else... essentially, you are just as guilty, from what I understand of double standard ethics. However, I agree, and he could have stopped it at any time himself and didn't. I think there was a reason.

God bless you for your faith. Your right. God never killed his son, we did. We killed him with our sin. If we never sinned, Jesus wouldn't have had to die.
