To be honest, I'm not religious, I just want to know what draws people to believe in God. I'm not looking for any "Bible thumping" wackos to post here...I'm looking for people that have real answers like... "I'm afraid to die, and that scares the **** out of me"...Something real, something about YOU, or about your life.

Then why does history show Christians have slaughtered more people in time just becuase they believed different? That's not accepting or forgiving. It is a evil act of going against what your religion tellls you. Sounds like you are being brain washed by the Christiananity Cult.

My wife, children, and I are searching for a Christian Church to call home. We have attended various Protestant churches (mostly Episcopalian), but for a variety of reasons always find ourselves being pulled toward the Catholic Church.

Our concern is that we are progressive Christians. Is it possible to be progressive and Catholic?

For those of you who are progressive Catholics, how have you come to terms with some of the teachings of the church that aren't, well, modern?

Ahhh! I feel like I'm in the middle of a freakin war people. I wish I was like Pocohantos and could be all like... "STOP!" right before people blow themselves up. It seems that many of you are very intolerant of other people's beliefs or nonbeliefs and feel like you can insult someones faith and make an athiest out of em, OR that you can insult an athiest so much that somehow that helps them believe in God? If you ask me, insulting someone's beliefs or opinions just make them more angry and situation a heck of a lot worse. See now I'm insulting all those who insult others, is there no hope ever for us all??? grrrrr........... bloody pirates, and bums, thanks to the ones who respect others and ask SINCERE questions rather than mock those who are different from them. I would just like to know why do you (Atheist) hate GOD? you find it so difficult to answer a question when it comes to the possibility that GOD does exist that you can only ask a question back like "what will you do when you find you wasted your life believing in nothing." that folks is not answering the question. it is pinning the blame as it were on someone else. just answer the question! how hard is it for you so called higher intellecual people to just answer a what if question.
You want my answer to your what if. Then I have lost nothing and lived a good life. I don't loose anything only you do.

Religion is filled with rules and dicta; don't do this, say that, be this way, etc., etc....why not strip away all the mythology, all the politics, and all the guilt, and go with what I call the Two Rules?

1. Hurt no one.
2. Help those you can.

What else needs to be said? This covers every aspect of morality, simply and neatly. Am I missing something?

most (but not all) of the ppl when passing by a very quiet place in the night & if hear some strange noise,their mind will automatically link to ghost ....

So my question is:
If ghost really exist,why human must be afraid of ghost & why not the ghost afraid of human? Is it true that the ghost got some power really can turn themself into very scary faces to scare human? (After all, ghost are also human before...)

Which isn't judgemental, which does not exclude, which preaches love and understanding, which helps others, which does not try to dominate your personal life, which is peaceful, which does not try to force itself onto other people?

I am interested in finding a religion to follow(maybe) but i am turned off by these ultra-religious, conservitive, anti-homosexual, anti-evoultion, follow us or you deserve to die kind of religions/people.

Are there any out there or am i out of luck?

The ones who truly follow it are the terrorists & the ones who do not are the vast majority of muslims.

There are any number of verses in the Quran that clearly exort muslims towards Jihad, terrorism & violence. Terrorists are simply those who follow the Quran in letter & spirit.
While muslims quote verses from the quaran which call for peace, these verses are far outnumbered by those which call for fighting & violence. What do you feel?
