That is a ridiculous, although you may be thinking of existentialist. I am an atheist and I lack belief in supernatural powers. Ghosts, gods, unicorns, angels, and devils are all unbelievable to me because I require concrete evidence to create my view of the world I live in. Unlike existentialists I do not base my beliefs on subjective experience but by objective evidence. I observe something, test it out, and then see if others see and conclude the same thing as I.

I tried this with religion. I had a religion, tested things the religion said, and then compared with other people. To my surprise others did not come with the same conclusion, thus I was wrong.

As for my parents, I can see, touch, smell, and hear (taste if I wanted to but that would be gross). I experiment by doing something wrong they punish me. I see that other people have parents so I believe in parents.

The true atheist rejects the made-up gods that our ego has created. Any god that is judgmental, believes in sin and hell, and punishes/condemns is a made-up ego god. This rejection is good - the irony is that most believers believe in a false, ego god which is taking the place of having a direct experience of the Real God. In the made-up god, belief is all there is because it's all fairy tales. An atheist, in the case of their parents, don't need to subscribe to 'belief' in them; he knows that empirically they exist. Belief doesn't come into play here.

Atheists simply don't believe in a higher power - like god or aliens or whatever. They have no explanation for how the world was created. How can you not believe in your parents - something right in front of your very own eyes?

an atheist, by definition, just doesn't believe in a God. I'm a Buddhist and therefore an atheist as well, because my philosophy does not include a god or a deity. but I certainly do believe in my parents and in a philosophy, so what you got there is a big misconception. lol.

ok, you just asked a question about atheists not knowing what "atheist" means, but apparently, it's you that does not know.
The only thing that atheists don't believe in, as a rule, is a higher power.

Is it true that Christians believe whatever our Judeo-Christian media feeds them and buy into what their family believes without questioning the authority of the church nor the validity of the Bible, thus creating a religion formed mostly by people whom do not truly believe, but rather just follow without question?

No, they just don't believe in God. But they believe in whatever they find valid, just the way the rest of us do. They simply do not find a belief in God necessary to the rest of what they believe. (I'm not an atheist myself, but studied philosophy and have known plenty of atheists in my life, including my own sister.)

Of course, one's theism or lack thereof doesn't have to mean anything outside of that. But I do think that if one doesn't beleive in god, they may be less trusting and more skeptical in general. Parent are often the agents of indoctrination, so if the parents are ineffective or disliked, whatever message they attempt to impart will be met with resistance.

Well, one thing atheist believe that, blindly believe in one thing make him/her be less logical in his/her thinking, thus such a statement could come out from his/her mind, which is,
"is it true that arteist don't believe in anything, not even there parents?"
Pity you.

Atheist means to lack belief in a God.
Agnostic means to have no knowledge of a God.
Pagan means to worship nature.
Heathen is a disparaging term for a non-Christian.
Heretic means one who has been kicked out of a Christian church.

These terms are often confused.
