Well its kinda late but I try to cover it as much as I can with scripture!

Before OUR LORD AND SAVIOR came to this world there was a way! How you ask well let's start in the begging. In Genesis 4:1-8
If you notice there had to been giving an offering to God for the forgivness of sinns or in better words BEALIVE IN THE ONE WHO WAS TO COME! Able knew what was needed to be forgiving and how to do it. Doing a burnt offering unto the Lord forshadowing THE ONE WHO WAS TO COME WICH WAS CHRIST! AMEN! Now Cain did not belive it was neccesery to do it like that so he offered plant, fruits etc. He thought he could be forgiving by going doing it another way. In another words the world is divided into 2 groups those who Believe in Jesus and are Baptised and follow his steps and those who do Believe or don't believe in all the little things. They will wish they had made that disission much earlier. Hard Hug! Heb. 9:22 NOTE: Sacrificing animals was necessary to help people understand that without the blood of jesus shed on the cross, ther could be no forgiveness of sin. The shocking truth is that the punishment for sin is death. Since all of us have sinned, we should all die-- and we would have died, except that Jesus gave His perfect life by dying in our behalf to pay for our sins. The sinner brought his own sacrifical animal and slew it with his own hand(Leviticus 1:4,5). It was bloody and shocking, impressing people with the solemn truth that sin caused Jesus' death. Thus, they looked forward to the cross for salvation, while we look back to the cross for salvation. There is no other source of salvation. When the sinner placed his hands on the head of the animal and confessed his sins, the sins were smbolically transferred from the sinner to it. Thus, the animal became guilty and had to pay the death penalty. This represented Jesus bearing our sins. So thats why we dont sacrifice any more animal no more because he was the Lamb of God who comes to take away the sinns of the world .John 1:29 thats also why in the movies when he dies the viel or wall is torn in two because Jesus was the fulfillment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amen! I know I was rushing a little bit but feel free to E-mail me with any questions at mariomilo24@yahoo.com or tereymarios@yahoo.com

I don't know about "billions" but the ones saved before Jesus arrived were saved under the Law, after Jesus died, we became saved by Grace.

Oh, wow, look at all the answers that Christians are pulling from the cavernous recesses of their rectums. They CLAIM to follow the Bible completely, but when a question comes up that the Bible does not answer, they don't hesitate to fill in the blanks with their own opinions. Don't they know their God hates that kind of thing? The Bible says that Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven, that NOBODY gets to God except through Jesus. So, sorry, everyone, but all those nice people in the Old Testament are burning eternally in hell's oven.

Of course, most of them weren't really nice at all--Moses ordered his soldiers to keep a bunch of Midianite girls as sex slaves, David had a man killed so that he could steal the man's wife, Lot had sex with his own daughters, etc.--so maybe they deserve to be in hell. I guess you'll all find out when you get there. Say "Hi" to Adam and Eve for me, okay?

Adam and Eve, Seth, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, King David, and many other Old Testament saints hoped for a Messiah though they had no idea what his name would be but they hoped for him to come and their Sins were covered by Sacrificing an Animal in a Sin Offering.

Before Jesus came everyone who died went to Hell because Sinners cannot go to Heaven, however the Old Testament Saints did not go to the Torment side of Hell where the damned reside.

Instead the Old Testament saints went to a side of Hell called the Comfort side and there was a chasm between the good part of Hell and bad part of Hell.

Remember the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus and when the Rich Man called out to Abraham?

That shows that people in the good part of hell culd talk to people in the bad part but no one could cross from one side to the other.

When Jesus died he went to the good part of Hell to preach to those that were there so they could finally know the Messiah had been born and he had been crucified and would rise from the dead.

All in the good part of Hell accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah and they were finally able to go to Heaven.

there were those who sought after the promise those like Abraham who by faith believed God ...there were those who did not have access to the promise and did not know about the coming savior...all who did believe went to Abrahams bosom.. a place located within the region of hell..just not being in torment..Luke 16;19-31...those who died without the promise..had the mercy of God when Jesus died he went into hell and preached to those spirits
1 Peter 3:19. By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

and the bible says he took captivity captive
Ephesians 4; 8. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men....keep reading the next 2 verses 9. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10. He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

This would also explain where hell is located...in the lower parts of the earth...but he preached to them and those who received him went to heaven with him...and the rest still rejected him..the last chance to get out of hell..what a tradgedy...This shows the truth of the word when it says God gives all men time and opportunity...to know him...God bless

First was the covenant with Noah, then the second with Abraham,
and the 10 commandments with Moses was 3rd. If you read your bible it was started with Abraham, then to the country which later became known as Israel. And later narrowed down to the family of David. This is where the Messiah was to come from.

John the Baptist was called to prepare the way for the coming of Christ. When Jesus died on the cross it was for all previous Sins, and all Sin in future generations who believed in Him.

Read John3:16

Jesus is our savior, so is Buddha, so is anyone who becomes enlightened and, therefore, becomes a representative of the One Way. People are already saved; we just need to get an enlightenment experience so that we KNOW it. Buddha and others who became enlightened were before Jesus in time.

First I need to say that the Bible does not teach automatic salvation.
John 3:36:"He that exercises faith in the Son,has everlasting life,he that disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him."
Matt.24:13-"He that endures to the end will be saved."

The billions dead will be given a resurrection and during that time will be given an opportunity to learn about God and decide whether they want to serve him or not.
Acts 24:15 tells us that "there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous".

The most important thing.. what saved these people in the old testament before Jesus.. was their faith. They had faith that God would send Jesus and he would save the world from their sins. These people did give sacrifices to God, as an atonement for their sins, but this would have meant nothing without their faith.
