someone explain this to me. What do these people believe? And everything else. I'm just curious about this "religion". Oh and if anyone is a scientoligist, what do you feel about Tom Cruise, his actions, and how he's become your unoffical spokesperson for the world.

Just because I don't believe in what you do (which puts me in good company because neither does 2/3 of the planet) why do I get a trite and condescending name? I don't address you as "self-delusioner" or "fool." Why don't you address me as "non-christian" or "atheist"?

1. That a lot of people here may be very young and naive in their knowledge of the world?

2. That a lot of people may come from small towns with only one major religion and may never met a person with a different belief in their lives?

3. That many of these people only know other beliefs from the lies that their parents, their small-town preachers and their friends tell them?

4. That we have an opportunity here to _educate_ people about other faiths instead of shouting them down?

5. That we can support our own beliefs and fellow people who share them better by showing a higher example to them?

Remember - some people are filled with hate, but some people just don't know any better. Let's try to give them the benefit of the doubt and show them that the biggest true 'sin' is a lack of knowledge and understanding. Let's lead by example.

(Mind you that doesn't mean we shouldn't be merciless with the ones who are proud of their ignorance :p )

It seems like (in America at least) that the capitalistic desire to consume, consume, consume has often been justified with:

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Does this command by god to go and take and use whatever you want on the planet, without consequences, explain why resources run out and animals go extinct?

im aware i asked this question yesterday but with answers i got i gotta ask again, the question was why if the bible in Psalms and revelations show us how time with God is like a celebration where people spin leap run dance shout why are so many churches quiet as a mouse and more dull than a root canal, i mean we were on our way to hell now heaven that is the most exciting news of all, but my new question is whats up with these dead religious people saying its about a relationship not supposed to be fun, or i think dancing is irreverent in church what is this crap the bible is the final authority not church tradition or denominational creed and pride! if the book says it and it does (psalm 149, 150 etc and revelation 5 etc) that our worship and praise should be vibrant relevant exciting and jubilant who are we to be dead and dry just to be "comfortable" and "respectful" to disobey the word is whats really out of order! lets be real and excited about God

Let me see… if I’m lower middle class and make $30,000 a year and give 10% to a church or ministry of some sort, that’s… HOLY MACKEREL… $3000 in a YEAR!

That’s got to be at least ONE-THIRD more than what someone spends on one carton of cigarettes every week for a year! Or ONE-THIRD more than what someone might spend on a six-pack of beer every day for a year!!!!! UN-STINKIN-BELIEVABLE!! (Gosh! I sure hope that person isn’t buying a carton of cigs AND those sixers of beer in the same week… that would really screw up the numbers!)

What if someone got their nails done AND went to the movies once a week for a year?? Or what if someone bought a new CD AND bought a new X-Box game every week for a year????

Many Christian posts on here point to an "angry" or "jealous" God of the "Old Testament" (terms together obviously implying inferiority of Jewish belief). But in the "New", somehow the deal is different. Think about this for a moment. If you legitimize the idea that this is because the people in that time were worse and therefore deserved worse treatment, doesn’t that mean that current events are not the worst of times? If you dismiss this reasoning and say these are indeed the worst times, but we are treated better because Jesus died for our sins, why is any modern "sin" a problem for a Christian - even blasphemy?
