Both of your religions claim that they are the only true religion and all those who don’t adhere to it will be damned for eternity. How does this worldview make any sense? Your religion would damn good people of a different faith. Why would you even want to adhere to religion that would condemn good people and would put more emphasis on your beliefs rather then your actions (not as a whole, but in this regard). Furthermore, since both of your religions offer no room for alternate worldviews they will consistently be points of contention and conflict with others and will detract from ever obtaining a peaceful world. I acknowledge all the good things religion can do on a personal level, but as a whole I think both of these religions detract from the world rather than add to it.

This is an honest question. Please no quotes from the Bible or Koran, or any blanket statements without support. I would honestly like to know how you reconcile these things with your beliefs.

" Go not the way of the gentiles but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal.I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Isreal".
SO right from Jesus HIMSELF. If you believe the bible is the literal word of God and Jesus does this mean to you Jesus is saying if your not a jew your excluded from his( and therfore by God since He sent Jesus) teachings?????? I'd like to hear from both christains AND skeptics and anyone else. This is why I got into bible history and archeology. Anyone else?

I don't mean to offend anyone by this question, but magic has been around since before christ. I believe in God and that he created this world we live in, but could it be that jesus christ was just an excellent magician in his time, like david blaine and chris angel of this decade, they can all seem to perform miracle like things, that you have to just drop your jaw and say wow, that is impossible. Could it be possible Jesus's miracles were just astonishing mind blowing magic tricks? I'm not trying to make a joke or anything like that about this, it was just something I was wondering, i'm just pretty much trying to figure out why God chose that specific moment in time to send christ to earth, their have been thousands more years before christ than afterwards thus far. Just trying to figure out why he chose 2006 years ago to sacrifice his son, and not 4000 years ago?

The idea that a "loving" God would say to Job "I'm gonna inflict you with horrible disease and kill your children and make your life horrible and if you don't love me afterward you will spend eternity in even worse suffering" seems like cruel tyranny to me. What makes it justifiable?

Why don't you get that day off from work?

Joseph Smith claimed to be a "prophet." He frequently prophesied future events "by the power of God." Many of these prophecies are recorded in the LDS scripture Doctrine and Covenants. Almost none have been fulfilled, and many cannot now be fulfilled because the deeds to be done by the persons named were never done and those persons are now dead. Many prophecies included dates for their fulfillment, and those dates are now long past, the events never having occurred.

Since bible is word of GOD and can't be cchanged how come """"Thou shalt not bear false witness"""""" was removed during translation from Modern Bibles?

Romans 13:9: For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, """"""Thou shalt not bear false witness"""""", Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Many of the basic historical notions found in the Book of Mormon had appeared in print already in 1825, just two years before Smith began producing the Book of Mormon, in a book called View of the Hebrews, by Ethan Smith (no relation) and published just a few miles from where Joseph Smith lived. A careful study of this obscure book led one LDS church official (the historian B. H. Roberts, 1857-1933) to confess that the evidence tended to show that the Book of Mormon was not an ancient record, but concocted by Joseph Smith himself, based on ideas he had read in the earlier book.

A great quote I picked up from somewhere. Basically, the limit of our scientific theory stops at the big bang; the theory goes that the big bang started with a particle exploding that was infinitely light and infinitely small, and had spin. That's as far back as science can go, but what it can't even attempt to explain is how that particle got there in the first place. That's where philosphy and religion start, but PLEASE, if you're religious, DON'T pretend to KNOW or STATE AS FACT that '"God put it there" or "God created it", or "it was created by a 'higher power'". I think alot of conflict arises from beliefs or 'faiths' being stated AS FACT. It gets peoples' backs up, and rightly so - it's called making out you know something that you don't.

I think if religious people were just more careful with their use of language, alot less conflict would arise. Maybe it's the cause of wars!
