it's all they know how to come back with. God forbids them to come up with original answers.

Because wouldn't a question about religion be answered best with quotes from the source of the information that you are questioning? Or at least as back up to their point of view? Do you want an answer to a religious questions based upon something they just made up, or about established religion?

Because actually having to come up with an answer WITHOUT using quotes from the Bible is too difficult. It requires thinking and analysis. One of the entire POINTS of the Bible is to provide the average person with ready-made, neat little answers to all the questions he might otherwise ask. One of the ATTRACTIONS of the Bible is that it conveniently takes away any of the natural doubts and confusions that might lead one to question the nature of the universe, and therefore takes away the burden of actually having to think about this stuff in an analytical way. Why think and frame your own answer when it's been provided for you in a handy handbook?

It's dogmatism! As you say people quoting most often are those who are so taken with their own religion! They refuse to see anything else so feel a quote here and there (Everywhere usually) backs up their argument! It's the same with politics. Sheer dogmatism! Tell you one thing .... God was no dogmatic so i can picture him sitting up there yawning as if there were no tomorrows at people using quotes!

The best way to answer questions about life is with the Bible. If you don't like it you can do 1 of 2 things. 1 you can stop asking questions and then you won't get annoyed when you get your answer with scripture. 2 basically if you do ask a question and you get scripture quoted then its tough chees mate, see point 1.

The quotes are considered words of wisdom which explain the point they are making better than they can express themselves. In the right place there is nothing wrong with that. On the other hand, proponents of anti-religion rely heavily on cliches and misrepresentation.

Because those willing to have a reasonable, open, adult conversation about their religious beliefs, or to answer questions (like me), are unwilling to even come into the religion section because of the decidedly unpleasant, self-righteous atmosphere.
We are consistently drowned out by those whose doctrine we may even agree with. Their ego-centrism and very unChrist-like lack of humility, compassion or simple lack of charity to others is just what's left, unfortunately. The behavior is common among both religious zealots and anti-religious zealots.

Well, if its a quote from the Bible - then its the best answer we could possibly give. It says in the Bible not to ever take away or add to the words of the Bible. Thats personally why I give quotes from the Bible to answer others questions.

Because you can find the answer to any life question in the Bible...so it only makes sense to quote the Bible or some other religious reference.

Source, my dear!
Few people just want to hear a Nobody's opinion. It's sort of a poll kind of thing, but with historic weight.
Ask yourself something else: What does it matter? You got to through-put whatever you're told, anyway. That's the important thing about religious questions.
