No loving parent would allow their children to wander into danger, nor put temptation before them. The christian god has done so. He allowed Job to be tormented, he put Adam & Eve with the tree knowing full well that they would eat of it, and he made evil in the world. Read Isaiah 45:7. He would also have anyone who has not been baptised in the name of Jesus to burn in hell forever, nevermind if they are infants or have never heard of Jesus. (I guess that includes David, Jacob, Abraham and Moses, huh?) And we all know what sinful, hateful murderous things infants are, right? And forever is a long time for less than 60 years of evildoing. But let's not forget that this is from a loving and forgiving god.
I guess this god likes rape and genocide since he never stops it going on in the world. Ever. In fact, he even hardened Pharoahs heart so he could send plagues and kill all of Egypts firstborn. Upwards of 9 million people were brutally tortured and killed during the 500 years of the Inquisition and god never made a squeak. The old testament is full of wars and evil acts ordered by god, including the slaying of infants and children (1 Samuel 15:3) The crusades must have been OK, even when entire villages were put to the sword in the name of god. Hitler was a devout christian and god didn't strike him down for the horrid things done to His chosen people.
Child abuse is wrong, no matter who says otherwise. Deliberately putting someone in harms way is wrong.
What god did to Job and everyone else in the bible is wrong. Good does not allow or encourage evil. Love does not order torment.
If god is so all powerful, all knowing and all seeing and really did make everything according to a plan then why did he make people who he KNEW would commit sins unless he WANTS to torture people forever?
Can't you feel the love?

NO! Keep beating them every chance you get! They'll never practice to get better if you "let" them win! That's the problem with competition among kids these days! There are NO LOSERS! Everybody gets a "trophy", the losers also get an ice cream cone! Where's the incentive to actually practice to get better! The "real" world isn't this way! Go ahead and keep beating their butts until that glorious day when one of them finally beats you badly and gloats about it the next day at school yo all their friends!

That isn't what happened in the Book of Job! IN the Book of Job Lucifer came and said to God, "The only reason Job loves you is that he has all that stuff and is so greatly blessed."
God said,"Job would love me even if he wasn't so greatly blessed."
Lucifer said, "Ha!, Let me take all these things from him and we'll see if he still praises you!"
God said, "OK, then I trust my child Job!"
(paraphrased)
Then LUCIFER did all those horrible things like have Job's children killed and taking away his land and all the other bad things, but through it all Job believed there was a reason why this was allowed to happen, and he still trusted God.
Then Lucifer knew he had been beaten, because Job never once blamed God for what was happening. Afterwards God rewarded Job for TRUSTING him! and returned unto him much more blessing then he had before!
Beating your children isn't the same at all! God isn't the one who did these things to Job! If you beat your children to try to prove that they love you, then you will get one of 3 things from them!
1. They will kill you in your sleep
2. They will call the cops and have you arrested.
3. They will sit there and take it thinking that they are horrible creatures and that you are right to beat them and then when they are about 16 they will kill themselves.
These things will happen because they are KIDS! They don't understand whats going on and being kids they will try what ever they can to make the pain stop. Job was a grown man, who had been trusting the Lord for all his life! He was well versed in scripture and knew when things happened there were reasons!
Children are not like that!
My mother used to beat me and many other horrible things happened to me, at the time I thought that if I could just kill some people or myself then everything would be ok, but I never did I stuck around, believing that there were reasons all the bad things happened to me! I was right, I now have an insiders view to abuse, rape, and other forms of molestation. With the things I've gone through and how God has helped me through, I have been able to HELP many others get through tough times in their lives.
If you beat your children then I pray someone catches you and locks you up! People like you who look for escape in your religion for excuses to hurt others sicken me.
Also heres a question: HAVE YOU YOURSELF EVER READ THE BOOK OF JOB?
Most likely not!

Did God directly cause all those horrible things that happened to Job -- or did they just happen?
The story of Job speaks about remaining strong and faithful to God even when things aren't going our way. That's an important lesson for all of us.

God is not equal to humans. You cannot compare the two. God was testing Job's love for Him and because of it, Job came out a saint. He was a holy man before, but being tested by God and prevailing makes us so much stronger in our faith. Because Job suffered, billions of people have been told about his life and have been edified into living better lives and carrying their crosses more willingly. Job has a higher place in heaven because of it and he has helped billions of people get to heaven as well.

God wasn't being cruel, He was proving that He had faith in Job's love for Him. We live in a time that seems to encourage rewarding people for good and bad behaviour because we are afraid they won't love us anymore. We don't even make our children responsible for their actions and think that by giving them what they want we are doing them a favor. WE ARE NOT!!!! It is wonderful to me that God loves me the same way He loved Job and has that much faith in me. Even when I let Him down with my actions. I have always read the book of Job as two stories, one of a man's faith in God and one of God's faith in a man. To have that kind of faith and trust in anything is awesome. I pray everyday that my faith will always be that strong.

It was Satan's challange. Would humans worship God if everything was taken away from them. He said humans only worship God because of what they can get. God kept the Devil from Killing Job and when the test was finished, God blessed Job with even more.

See now if you really read the book of Job you'd realize that it was the devil who bet God that Job would forsake him if he took everything away from him. God then basically said, "Go ahead. try it. Job is loyal to me." So after the DEVIL took everything away from him, he realized his plan was'nt working. Afterwards, God gave Job everything back doubled. I.E.: 20 kids instead of 10,etc.

You're a moron.
God didn't do anything to Job, it was Satan who asked God to let him do it. And Job was God's child in a way, but he wasn't a kid.

God didn't do this to Job. He allowed Satan to afflict him with all these things.
p.s. By the way, Job was a grown man. Your comparison with your kid makes no sense. God didn't allow Satan to afflict a child, but a man who loved God.
