They are not magic, they are called garments. Mormons who have been through the temple do wear these under their clothes. They do not wear them while bathing, swimming, exercising, doing sports, intimate moments etc... Steve Young talked about how he wore them, not while playing football though. Basically you would wear them, when you would wear underwear. They do not cover their whole body, they are kind of like short sleeved shirts, and shorts, but in an underwear material.
The Garment of Holy Priesthood (Garment, Regulation Garment, Temple Garment) is distinguished as the only article of Temple clothing members are expected to wear outside the Temple confines. It represents the garment given to Adam when he was found naked in the garden of Eden. It is an undergarment with religious significance and has four symbols known as the "Marks of the Holy Priesthood" sewn into it. Over the left breast is "the mark of the compass"; over the right breast is "the mark of the square"; over the navel is a mark, and another appears over the right knee (the latter two are one-inch horizontal lines). These marks remind the wearer of the covenants assumed in the temple ritual.

Actually, they call them temple garments and they start wearing them when they get married. The idea is that if you wear underwear that is blessed, it will help protect you from evil. They do go a little far in that they are expected to wear them ALL the time, during sex and even when they take a bath, supposedly to peel one off real quick and put another on. Garments are the reason you never see Mormon women wearing sleeveless shirts as they have a little cap sleeve and it would show. They are basically all one piece with a slit opening in the back, kinda like grandpa's long johns, only wierder.

There is a specific type of undergarment that I know women wear that is kinda like a leotard except that the bottom goes about halfway down their thighs (like biker shorts) and the top has cap sleeves. This undergarment is not allowed to be seen through the clothing. A friend of my sister's is not allowed to wear shorts during the summertime she is only allowed to wear capris and jeans.

No, they're not called magic underwear. Howard Stearn is an idiot.
They are called Temple Garments. Though I'm an inactive Mormon and I haven't been married in the temple or received my endowments, which is when you receive the garments, I know people who have. ( My brothers, nieces, nephews ) And trust me, they are not thought of as magical.

Every religion has "special" clothing, usually it's just worn by the leaders of the church. The Catholics have those cool tall hats.
We just were our special clothing underneath our normal clothes because it is a reminder to us of the covenants we've made with God.

It's not 'magic underwear' - it's just that their underwear has a quick release strap in case any of the several wives requires urgent servicing
