I've been told that the usage of articles (the, a, etc.) is somewhat difficult because there are rules for it, but there a ton of exceptions to the rules, as well. I believe it, too, because knowing when to use an article or not in Spanish is difficult at times for me.

Also, I would think that the pronunciation would be rather difficult because it seems that there are just more exceptions than there are rules in English pronunciation.

So, I'm curious about what you found the most difficult about learning English, or what you found not difficult at all. Did you find it easy to learn English? What is your native language? Did knowing your native language (or other languages you've learned) help with your understanding of English, or no?

I've been curious about our use of "the late" so-and-so signifying that a person is dead. I don't even know where to start, but my best psudo-guess is that someone sometime ago was late for dinner one night because of his or her untimely death and the phrase stuck.

I'm trying to learn to speak spanish and my families language Romanian. But they immigrated so long ago they were forced to learn other languages in WW2 and stuff. But (of course) I can't roll my damn R's! I mean I can get my tongue rollin like a trrain but I can't get the sound of the letter too roll! Help me before I blow my brains out! It is pronounced Puerto Rican. Is it a spanglish thing? Port o Rico? Is it that they are trying to say port of rico? Puerto (Port) Rico(Rich). Let's come correct latinos and pronounce it correctly.

looking for answer to the language issue. do you feel it is rude to speak in a language that other people can not understand in the work place. if the bad people was at your work talking about blowing up the building in a language that you dont understand would you be upset? whats your oppinion?
