My first language is Japanese.

Please teach me the minings of these terms.

1 It has rained for 2 weeks.
2 It has been raining for 2 weeks.

Is the first one correct precisely?

I guess 1st one means, the rainy-day can be 1day to 14days i doesnt mean continuing of rainy-day and we should say, for the LAST 2 weeks.

2nd one means. the rainy-day is 14days. continuing of rainy-day.

I mean, in first one possibly the rainy-day is 1 to 14days. i doesnt mean continuing of rainy-day.

what do you think?

I'm Puerto Rican, American. I haven't spoken Spanish sense I was about 6 or 7 years old. My mother does not speak Spanish at all. I grew up with her. Now that I'm an adult I'm really wanting to get back to my roots. I'm proud of my Puerto Rican heritage, but I don't speak Spanish. I've been out of practice for so long I don't remember hardly anything at all. I don't have anyone to help, because everyone around me speaks only English. It's weird to say, but I feel ashamed that I don't speak Spanish. I thought it would be easy to learn because I was familiar with the language as a very young child. But that is not the case. It seems even harder than ever now. It just will not stick. What can I do that will help me learn?

"Hey hvorfor er det lige du tror du kender mig
A shabi rasi hrakni
Så jeg venter bare på du kommer med en kommentar
Nogen burde sku bare klap i

I've heard it a couple of times from the same person, regarding a project. Is this something that people say all the time? It's the first time I've heard it and it sounded kind of odd.

I know this is going to 'draw some fire' from some respondents, but I have to ask it. And, I saw where a very similar question was asked recently by someone else, but I would appreciate one of two words somewhere in your response; either 'lazy' or ignorant'. Please.

Why is the English language so irrelevant with so many supposed English speaking people now? Lord knows I am not perfect, and I am not an English teacher, but when it comes to using the English language now days, it's atrocious.

From poor spelling, to improper use of words, bad grammar, terrible sentence structure, it goes on and on. Has someone come through in the dark of night and stolen all of our dictionaries?

Some of the questions asked on this blog are so poorly written it causes me to wonder what the person asking the question was doing when they spent the ten - fifteen seconds to blurt out the few words they did. And I am not talking about 'foreigners' in the process of learning the language. Have at me!

One of my kids is finishing up an immersion program at Concordia Language Villages in MN and I am looking for a language school for the summer 2007. He has been out of the country before, but always to Europe, never to Central or South America. I want to find a 6 or 8 week immersion program in Spanish that is really rigorous but also in a place that is very interesting. Any recommendations? What schools? What countries? Why? He likes the nuances between say Argentinian Spanish and Mexican...and Spanish from Cameroon and from Barcelona. I don't feel the 'need' to necessarily send him to Madrid...and I would like perhaps for him to live in a country that struggles a bit. Thoughts? Schools? Recommendations?? Links?? Thanks!!
