My boyfriend is from Columbia and I know he enjoys reading novels that are written in Spanish. I was wanting to send him a book while he is stationed over seas. Any recommendations?

My opinion is that it is, despite how it came into being, it is in use, so by defacto becomes real...it's really a tortured "aren't". so saying "they ain't home" is no more wrong than spelling color, instead of colour...or center instead of centre. i was arguing with my sister in law about this.

I've always been interested in the Japanese culture and language ever since I started reading manga years back. Even though I have less than half a summer left before school, I really want to do something significant and start learning it. I don't have access to a local class or such though, so I'm pretty much going to have to learn it myself.

And that is why I'm asking what's the best way to start teaching myself the language since I'll be doing it all. For some background info, I have a bunch of Naruto episodes(Japanese show) subtitled and have picked up on various words and such, mostly from the show and its manga. I'm willing to work hard for this and keep at it, so you can be thorough in your recommendations.

Thanks much

For example, in Korean, "pocket" is pronounced "ho-joo-mo-nee," which sounds a lot like "holds your money" in English, which is what a pocket does. The funniest and/or most interesting example in another language gets best answer.

I really need to send a letter to a japanese relative and I don't know how to translate what I mean to say. Please, help me out. Thanks in advance!

Dear Mineko: Hello, who are you? I hope you and your family is OK. My father died in June, I'm sorry I couldn't call you earlier. Everyone else is healthy. I miss you a lot, I'm planning to go to Japan to work for two years in a obento factory, hoping to learn Japanese and save some money to finish University studies in Argentina. I wish to visit Okinawa again someday! Take care, I love you.
