I'm trying to learn how to say "cat" in as many languages as possible. I already know GATTO (Italian), GATO (Spanish), CHAT (French), KATZE (German), and KOT (Russian). If your native language isn't any of the above, could you help me please? Or if you speak a second language that is different from those listed above... Please, don't forget to let me know which language it is!!!

If you give me the phonetic transcription as well, so that I can pronounce it correctly, I'll give you best answer ;-)

Thanks!

So when you say something is the bee's knees, it means its really good or something along those lines. But literally what does it mean and where did the saying come from?

First of all, what do they say? Is it Wat'sup? or is it Wat'sup man?

Also, how do you answer the greeting? Are you supposed to say, "I am fine, how are you?", or do you say somthing else?

****also are there any other cool greetings like this that makes us seem cool?

I've had that experience in my life. Everytime i speak the language i studied in school i can speak with confidence..but in english or spanish which are the languages i spoke since young, i'm so shy and feel embarrased. in fact when i speak in the foreignl language i learned in school, the natives of that language tell me i'm not shy at all.. but with my parents in their language, they tell me i'm so shy and they get mad at me and want me to change

I have posted quite a few questions in the past using sarcastic humour, and I am always amazed by the amount of people that just dont get it. Is sarcasm a uniquely European concept, or are people on Answers simply mentally challenged?

i can find them in Voice chats, but i'd like to meet and talk to them face to face. However i find some challenges in California.

1. Most of them are either students or tourists, DON"T HAVE TIME for you becaue they are busy in schools or touring, if they are students they spent more time with foreigner classmates.

2. I never see any japanese that LIVE in usa.. at least not in my city.. sure they visit or are students but they don't live here to stay and dont' have time

3. They usually think y'ure not American if you're a minority and look minority and have accent(like me), and they are not really interested. also they have bunch of racist ideas against nonwhites stemming out of the influences from Movies, and stuff

4.they rather hang wih outgoing americans cause they want to experience things..not with us quiet people that don't have exciting lives.

5..the only place i used to see them was in bus or bus terminal.but due to injuries and depreesion you don't take bus anymore

I checked like four thesaurus and nothing came up. Yes I checked www.thesaurus.com. If you can think of one I would be very grateful and you would get 10 points. Preferably a synonym without the word life in it would be good, but I'll take anything.

I have a bunch of books.. and can't even read the intro because i have to first find a bunch of kanji compounds in the dictionary. it makes me wanna give up cause i have like 10 books but i won't give up. My books are interesting about Politics, society etc. and i can understand them if i know the Kanji.. but there's so many kanji compounds i don't understand....is it just inevitable for non natives to have to do a bunch of research prior to reading only one page of a book? or should i learn all kanji compounds i can possibly learn prior to reading any books, so that when i start reading i will not be stuck. i have 4 years of study but haven't studied in a long time and didn't ever learn much kanji.
