Her mom's a vegetarian Buddhist hippie and they live in CO. I don't know the kid well enough to get her something specific to her likes, but got roped in to exchanging presents this year and would like ideas for general things that 9 year old girls like these days. Thanks!

I am stumped on what to get the person I drew this year. It is a cousin that I haven't seen in 5 years or so. (large family with lots of folks traveling and this year the whole group is coming in that means lots of new people to shop for. Anyways he is in his 30's (I think). Far as I can tell he perfers the simple stuff in life (no mp3 or stuff like that). THE RULES CLEARLY STATE NO GIFT CARDS. The limit is 25-30 dollars. This is what his card says----hunts with bow and arrow, outdoor person, loves country music, large in shirts, favorite animal is horses (i think he has a small horse ranch or a farm with like 30 horses)

Any gift ideas?

I sent an email to my dad yesterday asking him what he and his girlfriend would like for Christmas (I never know what to get them). I expected his return email to ask me what I wanted for Christmas, because I had asked him. Well, apparently he's not so quick on the uptake, so I'm wondering how to drop a hint without sounding like a brat.

My sister (2 years younger than me) has already asked for snow tires for Christmas from him, and is driving down to his town to get them put on today. She has a better--more understanding (on his part) relationship with him, there has always been some animosity between he and I. I am trying to repair our relationship, so I want to be nice, and not demanding an expensive present (I just want a sweater from Garnet Hill). While my sister gets $400 snow tires, I'm afraid to ask for a $150 present because of what our past relationship has been like. He's always gotten my sister the better presents. How can I ask in a good way for what I want?

Our town is having a contest on who can create the best float. The catch is you have to decorate a boat not a trailer. We are using a pontoon boat. Please let me know any creative ideas you may have!

We're on a budget, so ya gotta use your brains and come up with inventive ways of maximising what you can get for 25 euro.

Best suggestion gets 5 points!

Hi there,
I am particularly keen on answers from teenagers on this question. MY son wants just money for Christmas. He's 17. It will be the first ever year I've not bought him gifts. Do you think it's okay to give money at christmas?
My son says he hates getting random gifts he does not want. Can any of you identify with this?

my best friend has her own house with her boyfriend and they have a 4 month old baby, they have a really well behaved labrador.

she told me the other night they are getting rid of the dog and taking him to a rescue centre, i asked why she said coz they baby is picking up toys and putting them in his mouth and the toys are covered in dog hair,

all i could think is what a poor excuse its like 3 and a half weeks till xmas and they are putting ther dog in a rescue centre, ther dog is used to having his own back garden and sleeping under his table on his bed nice and warm next to the radiator, now he is going to be wondering what he has done wrong and will be locked in a cage for christmas all sad and lonely,

i cant help but think that that is really cruel and a rubbish excuse, what do you think? and think about it babies have grown up with dogs around them there whole life and become best friends for kids

How much would you pay to have someone come and provide christmas lights, put them up for you, and then take them down in January? My husband is not handy enough to do it, and my son is seven and I know he would love it. My budget is about $500 that is what I feel comfortable with spending my husband doesn't care what I do, but I would like to know if you would do it if you could afford it and do you think a little kid would like it a lot?

I'll share mine with you as well....

My Father, Mother, my 2 Brother's & Myself going to Midnight Mass (in Latin), seeing our father's side of the family there.

Coming home then the family would sit-up around our Christmas tree (prob. when I was a young teenager) Enjoying some hot chocolate w/marshmellows in our cups. Having each other pick out one present for us to open before we head off to bed. Had a dog who opened his own gifts as well.

Sitting in a circle in our 70's style livingroom listening to Elvis Christmas Album (on vinal). Opening our 1 Christmas Eve present (after midnight though). Then getting curlled up in bed dreaming of the day to come.

I used to love christmas time. It was my favourite time of year but now I cant get into it. It just all seems so tacky and just a big commercial crapfest. How do I rediscover the magic?
I think it is maybe a money thing.....but still, I miss the magic.
