How much would you pay to have someone come and provide christmas lights, put them up for you, and then take them down in January? My husband is not handy enough to do it, and my son is seven and I know he would love it. My budget is about $500 that is what I feel comfortable with spending my husband doesn't care what I do, but I would like to know if you would do it if you could afford it and do you think a little kid would like it a lot?

Hmm, if this is a mutual decision between you and your spouse -- and you both do not mind the spending of $ for installing the lights -- then go for it.

As a Long Term Single Parent (and I did not have the budget for doing Christmas Lights on my Home), I got out the light strings, the inflatables, and yes, the Ladder and every year would put them up MYSELF and then take them down (and do the maintenance before I put them away).

Now that I'm getting older (and I am an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree) .. I am still doing the Christmas Lights myself -- subdued (just the bushes with net lights (in front of the house) and the Lights hanging from the Gutters). I don't use a ladder anymore, because there are hangers that I can apply from the ground level -- and just slip on and off those gutter hooks.

So ... for me, I just will keep doing this until I am too sore to do it anymore .. and then ... I'll most likely hire someone to put up my lights. (But I don't see that happening for many years yet).

Very simple answer - yes! If I could afford what it takes.
If you like Christmas lights and you say your little kid would like it a lot, why not? He's only going to be 7 once in his life, you may never do it again, so it will be an experience he will remember.
We never had any lights by night when I was a child during the blackout years and I was totally mesmerised by street lights after the War.

That sounds good, but I can think of about a thousand things I could do with 500 dollars....but if you are okay with that then do it....personally I hate the hassle of putting up lights and hanging off a ladder...it would be nice to be able to afford to have someone do it for me......I think your lttle kid would love it.

If you've got $500 to spend on installing Christmas light's and you and your fella are ok with that, then go for it.
If my wife and I had $500 to spend on Christmas light's, and I couldn't put them up then she'd spend $500 on Chrismas light's, and yes my wife and son would luv it aswell but i could not care less.
