1) Its A Wonderful Life - one of the best movies ever. period.

2) A Christmas Carol (1951) - but the 1930s version is good too

3) The Holy And The Ivy - this is a beautiful british film about a clergyman and his disfunctional family. Totally sincere and well ahead of its time. Its totally worth checking out.

What are some cheap affordable gifts that we can give the whole family.

Since everyone always says Christmas is commercial and greedy, what are you planning to do about it to change it for yourself and your familiy? Obviously you can't change it for the world, but what if anything do you plan to do differently to make it less commercial for you?

why is it the Goverment think tank seem to think it would be a good idea to tone down xmas just for the sake of other religious beliefs If I went to another country I would abide by their local coustoms and not b***h about it - unless it included beheading me!

I guess I'm not as 'sick' as I am 'sad' that it has turned from being a more family-oriented atmosphere to one of buying stuff and having it pushed in your face wherever you go - even in your own living room through the television.

What happened to making candied popcorn balls, carol singers, bags of nuts, oranges, snow sledding, turkey, making ginger bread and other candy for the family......

It's just lost all of it's appeal.... anyone agree?

I'm not a huge fan of Christmas to begin with, and usually I'm sick and tired by all the Christmas decorations and Christmas music by about the first week of December at the latest.

I don't do any decorating at home, and I don't let my employees put up the decorations at work until after Thanksgiving - and I won't put on the Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.

What do you get someone that is in the military for Christmas?
my nephew is in the marines and i am not sure what is aloud to give them or what stores is close to him so he can get what he wants i really don't want to give money i know he could use it to get home on but i would like to give him something for just him


he isn't going to be over in
Iraq at christmas in fact he is coming home next month from there and hopefully he wont be going back again he has been 2 times now

What do I do? I know I need to be of good cheer and all that for my kids now that they are getting older. I however D-E-S-P-I-S-E Christmas with such a ferocious passion. I hate the fact that I will be drug to my inlaws, and subjected to almost a weeks worthy of cheer and faux kindness. Am I the only one that hates this time of year like this? My blood pressure and stress level will be at a much elevated level from now on out. Am I normal?
