I am hosting Christmas dinner at my house for the first time, and I am looking for some new side dishes to add to the normal green bean cassarole and mashed potatoes. We are serving Ham as the meat and I am adding glazed baby carrots to the menu this year.

I am just interested in seeing what your family puts on the Christmas dinner table and maybe I will add it to mine!

I LOVE Christmas. My mum and dad always put their decorations up on the first and I have wonderful, exciting childhood memories of this time. Is it really wrong to want this for my daughters?
Christmas is once a year and we should cherish this family time as you never know how quickly it could be taken away from you. I love seeing my daughter's faces light up when they see the decorations.

Is this really so wrong? :-S

Just an old superstition i heard that if your xmas decorations are up past new years, you get bad luck? Is there any other superstitions that are Christmas related as well?

my office is a networky office, and this year for the holiday party they are doing the following: secret santa, adopt a family, holiday lunch, potluck dessert, and white elephant. I have been here awhile but don't make as much as those senior in my office so all of that is expensive and I don't want to spend my money on them. Is it appropriate for me to participate in the lunch, potluck dessert and white elephant and stay out of the secret santa? Is this incorrect in the office? Any ideas? Thanks.

When I was at school and both my parents worked for large companies we had hundreds of Christmas cards - from people who sat next to my mum (she saw them daily) from my dad's workmates - from my school friends .... since then I've always thought them such a waste. I now live in Greece - where they rarely send any type of card whether its birthday or Christmas. They seem to have the right idea - if you add up the money spent on cards (without the added stamps) and it's a lot of money that could have gone straight to charity ... not just a % like when you buy charity cards.
Seems such a waste to me - doesn't it you?

I'm going to my company's Christmas party and we were told to bring a small gift around $20-$40 for a gift exchange game. The gift has to be uni-sex and I have no idea what to get.

Please help?
