i love the season...well with my dad's side of the family

my mom's is different. to give you an idea let me tell you of ideas past.
this year we did not have a thanksgiving dinner with them. we had a buffet party at my uncles house the day after.

we never had get gifts from all of my mom's brothers and sisters. you get your name drawn and the person who draws your name gives you one present.

they never give you presents on your birthday. if you are lucky 3 weeks later. most likely a 6 mo. to a year. i have an uncle who is a year behind on presents and admits it.

now if you are 14 or older, you dont get presents on christmas. you get money donated to a charity in your name. and once you are out of high school, you get nothing at all. so i am the only one to get money to a chairity in my name this year.

and at the parties, all the adults talk, drink and watch sports while i babysit the younger kids

they always ruin this season

but i dont let it get me down. i make the best of this season and have fun with my dad's side of the family

I always keep the "reason for the season" close to my heart, especially when I have to go out shopping. Some people get much too stressed out and forget why we do this in the first place. I get through this by sharing kindness with everyone: I open doors for them, I smile, I let them cut in front of me with their shopping carts as well as in their cars once I get outside. I do not let them alter the unconditional love I have in my heart as I prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ.

I love the season. It brings a lot of happy memories to mind of days with my primary family and as you said, joyous people. I love the singing and the lights and the choir. Everything. And after all, that baby in the manger is amazing.
