When we were younger, everyone would be at my parents place and we would be up past midnight just talking.

We do it now still even though we are older just talking and hanging out.

Another thing is watching my nieces make cookies. They are young so they make a mess and get uber excited over the evening. The holidays are a big thing around my family so all the cooking and whatnot is a family affair.

We visit with my side of the family all day and have a huge Christmas dinner, then we drive back and my kids look for Santa's sleigh in the sky. We come home, they put on their pj's and set out the cookies and milk and leave Santa a note. It's so fun. We are getting bells this year to ring outside the house so we can tell them they better get some shut eye- he's in the neighborhood. My oldest daughter this year is doubting Santa. I want to keep her young a little longer so I deny deny deny! lol

I love Midnight Mass.
My church is beautifully decorated with lights, fresh garland and bows. They turn down the lights and burn the "Holy Day" incense. It's just a barrage on the senses...seeing everything, smelling everything, hearing the beautiful organ play Christmas hymns.
I especially love it when it's gently snowing at that time of night. The whole experience really warms the heart!
