I was a Long Term Single Parent, and I can say this ...
As Toddlers -- about $150 to $200 -- and that included new clothes as well as Toddler Toys.
As young Children -- I upped the budget to about $250 to $300 (which included mid-school year additional school supplies). This was mixed between puzzles, Legos, Games, and Clothes.
As middle school Children -- I upped the budget to $350 (Increased amount due to more school supplies, clothes are more expensive, and they want the e-toys).
As Teenagers -- the Budget was around $400 to $500 each (The Increase here was due to increased clothes costs, E-Games, Expensive school supplies -- including replacing calculators, etc that they 'claimed' to have 'lost' at school).
As young Adults -- they are out of the home, so the budget goes down (no more than $50 to $100) ... I am NOT really going to give much except for a Restaurant Gift Certificate or some other Gift Certificate. After all, as an Adult ... you need to provide for your OWN needs ... and at this time, we parents do NOT need to purchase your clothes, your shoes, or anything else anymore!
