I have not been able to be part of my daughter's life until the last few months, so this will be my first Christmas gift for her.

She's very artistic and is good with computers.

I was going to buy her a computer, but she's building her own in school...now I'm stumped.

According to the songs, these are kids who can't pout, whine, cry, and essentially be good 24-7 since the last Christmas.

(I'm guessing he drops off toys for...........8 kids, max. No wonder he can get it done in a night.)

When I was growing up there was a bit of Christmas shopping that was done, but nothing compared to what I've seen in recent years. Kids used to get inexpensive, but really nice gifts like board games, lincoln logs, paint-by-number kits, etc. But now people are spending thousands and thousands of dollars on shopping for Christmas gifts and the decorations are getting to be more over-the-top each year. Why and when did this shift towards holiday consumerism occur, and will it ever return to more simpler times?

i'm on a budget this holiday season (i'm a first year college student and saving for a car...i'm cheap right now!), and i'd really like to give nice gifts that won't break my already broken wallet. the only gift i am going all out on is for my parents - a big screen tv because i get an amazing discount through my job, but even then my brothers and i are splitting price.

i have mom and dad (individual gifts), aunt, two adult brothers, an adult male cousin, and a 10 year old cousin (boy).

PREGNANT TURKEY STORY: One year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister's house for the traditional feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store. When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven. When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird. With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed: "Patricia, you've cooked a pregnant bird!" At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the family two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs!!!!!!!! HA HA!

I happen to be a curious person by nature. This coming week we celebrate the things we are thankful for in our lives. I've already posted things I am thankful for. What I'm curious to know is, what is it that YOU are most thankful for this year?
