Why do people take christ out of christmas?

For example instead of people writing merry christmas, they write merry xmas.Thats like taking christ out of christmas.

My husband had a Stroke and is not working right now. I resently went back to college, and going to school. We are on a very tight income barely able to pay rent. I have four kids. The 3 girls are 18 who has rods in her spine from Scoliosis, 17, 15, and a 13 year old boy who shoe shines and gives me a great report card. Can anyone guild me to where I could get help for Christmas this year because it does't look like we will have one this year. Thank you and God Bless. Merry Christmas

usually for thanksgiving we have turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce, carrots and peas, rolls, some kind of sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, corn on the cob and then there is the pies. that's great but we have the same thing every year since i can remember. i know there are other kinds of side dishes but i just need to know what other people have. i would like to keep it simple, traditional, tasteful, just a different variety of dishes. i just need some ideas. i love down home cookin'. thanks

My husaband and I are at odd's on what to get our son for christmas. Our son wants the Hot Wheels Radar Gun and my husband thinks it's a stupid idea. He says he has nothing to use on it. Everytime we go to the store, my son always finds it and makes sure I see it and says "this is what I want mom". It's only 20 bucks and it's christmas. Am I wrong for fighting for the present for my son. And to answer the small question, my husband is my sons real dad.
