The best Christmas I recall was when I was 3 years old. It seems like yesterday in my memory. My mother and I had no electricity. We spent Christmas eve at my Grandmothers. I slept in the bed next to her. I whispered to her my concerns about Santa finding me at her house. Would I miss Christmas? She assured me I would not. I recall snuggling soundly beneath the homemade quilts that gave me warmth and comfort. The next morning the house filled up with family. There was food, singing, presents and an entire vision of what Christmas is. I don't recall the presents I received that year. Funny, they are of little consequence. The important thing is that Christmas found us all together, as a loving family. I am a grandmother now myself. I try my best to make ordinary things seem wonderful for my little one. I do miss those days and mostly I miss my precious Grandmother.

We were very poor when I was a child. My Mother just bought a bucket of old second hand toys from the St. Vincent De Paul store every year. She never used to wrap anything. One year, we got a big basket from our Church that had wrapped presents? I remember I received my very own box of crayons and coloring book. I also got a doll that didn't have it's hair already ruined. We had a big Turkey that year and everything.

LOL My friend and I (about 20 yrs old) decided to make Thanksgiving dinner. The whole show. Everything from scratch :-))

Turkey, pies (apple and pumpkin!), homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish, sweet potaoes, rolls, etc. :-))

We started at about 11:00 PM the night before. We found ourselves cooking throughout the night :-))

We stopped frequently to take photos of our progress.

We sat down to (a lovely) dinner at about 11:00 PM the following (Thanksgiving) day! :-))

What fun, such ignorance, and a delightful meal (finally!) :-))
