OMG! The mall was packed when I drove by, not a parking spot left in sight!

My guess is that retailers are pushing it more and more....

Heck-Walmart had their holiday stuff out since end of August! I hate going to the garden center during 80 degree weather and seeing christmas trees and snow shovels! ;o

I came home from work this past Monday, and the house on the corner was ablaze with Christmas lights. Thursday night it was the house across the street. This was two weeks earlier than the usual Thanksgiving weekend. It is getting a little ridiculous, but maybe they only had that time to get them up because of working.

Super duc - I can't speak for everyone, but I would suspect the chain goes like this:
Many business make more money/profit on Christmas - December than any other time of the year. TGiving is a food only gig. So stores start pushing Christmas as early as they can so people have longer to spend and spend and spend. Besides the stores need to get ahead of other stores and so if they can sell you one strand now, then next week you will need another strand.
Phenomenal, but it's real.
By the way, the best months for charities are May (taxes) and November (TGiving).

It seems to start earlier every year. Go ahead & put the lights up before the weather gets bad but hold off lighting the suckers till about Dec 1st. I think stores should wait till after Remembrance Day to get their stuff out. A salesperson wished me a merry Christmas & happy new year on Nov 7th. I just looked at her.

Maybe because the stores started selling Christmas stuff before Halloween! I swear, pretty soon Christmas will start in February. It's getting ridiculous. I'm starting to hate this holiday more and more.

blame money-hungry business. i work for a large national retail store and they required that we have most of the distributed christmas items we recieved up and on display a week BEFORE halloween or earlier. its crazy. it spurs the christmas season early.

hopefully most of those people take some time out next january to take it all down.

everyone has their own traditions. Maybe some start early. What does it matter. Lights look nice, everyone likes them. Some may have time now to do it, and not later. And the Holidays are a wonderful time, don't be so worried about it.

oh come on.....how do you decorate for thanksgiving? I'll be damned if I take down pumpkin and skeleton lights to hang turkey and cornecopia lights only to take those down to hang christmas lights.

because they know that people don't have the time, energy, or power of will or patience to stand in line in a packed mall near the christmas time rush.
