I heard on the news today, that a penny postcard, featuring a colored drawing of Santa & a young girl, was late being delivered. Would you believe "93" year's late? The card was mailed in 1914 but it's journey was slower than Christmas. It just arrived in NW Kansas. The card was dated Dec. 23, 1914 & addressed to Ethel Martin of Oberlin, Kansas, from her cousin in Alma, Nebraska. Ninety three years later, the card ended up with Bernice Martin, sister-in-law, of the now deceased, Ethel Martin, to whom the card was addressed. The card was placed inside another envelope with modern postage, for the trip to Oberlin, Kansas. Wherever it was, it was in perfect shape. Any ideas where it's been all these years?

I find I can see and advice people concerning their upsets yet applying the same information to myself and my situation gets lost oftentimes in the application process. This is just as common now that I am older.

The last time we drove from Florida to Wisconsin we drove 24 hours before we got a room. The last time I went to Pittsburgh getting through the airports kicked my butt. Flying to Atlanta is hard because the airport is so huge. It takes a lot of stamina to get through Hartsfield airport. I try to use my energy to get the most mileage but also not to end up comatose with fatigue. Hubby is drive like hell and you'll get there person. I'm a okay I need to stop and stretch my legs and use the bathroom and get a drink person.

I was awarded a "bosun's pipe" with a lanyard, onboard the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Durable out of Brownsville, Texas
My previous husband was a bosun's mate and served 20 years in the Coast Guard. While he worked in the Coast Guard, I worked in the private sector.
Knowing this the Captain of the Coast Guard cutter Durable honored me in a ceremony during which my husband retired. I was awarded the bosun's pipe in which I blew his final "reveille"
If you don't know what a bosun's pipe is, I have attached a couple of links. Click onto each command to hear the bosun's pipe.

On their very next voyage out to sea, the vessel caught fire and has since been decommishioned(sp?)

Shortly afterwards I set him free, because he could not keep his pecker in his pants.

A man wanted to buy his wife a unique birthday present. So one day, he went into a pet store looking for a parrot. The salesperson showed the man to a very beautiful parrot. "This is the only parrot we have, and his name is, Chet."

"He's beautiful!" cried the man, "Does he do any tricks?"

"Yes he does," answered the salesman. "If you put a lighted match under his right foot, Chet will sing 'Jingle Bells.' And if you put a lighted match under Chet's left foot, he will sing 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.'"

"Amazing!" exclaimed the man, and he bought the parrot immediately. That night, the man showed his wife the parrot that he'd bought, and said, "This is Chet."

"Oh, what a gorgeous bird! Does he know any tricks?" asked the wife. The man smiled and said, "Watch this."

Then he lit a match and put it under Chet's right foot. Sure enough, the parrot began to sing, 'Jingle Bells. 'Then he put the match under Chet's left foot, and he began to sing 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.'

"That's incredible! Does he do anything else?" the wife asked.

"I don't know, lets see," replied the man. So he lit another match and put it between the bird's legs. The parrot started singing, "Chet's nuts roasting on an open fire."

However, I will still ask it. With all of the elderly all over this country who are starving or in dire straights why do we still euthanize pets? Instead of eating rats because they cannot afford 'real' food, why doesn't the government or some other system allow for euthanized pets to be processed into food?

My neighbor has a little black kitten, she is so tiny and doesn't look to be any older than 6 to 8 months. She is pregnant and is always meowing at my door and of course I feed her, daily. This neighbor tells me that this is her second litter, that her last litter she gave birth in the woods and they all just died.
My husband told him that we are taking the kitty in and having her fixed.
My question here is this. I hate to mess with mother nature. Should I let her have these kittens? She is so young. Or should I take her to the vet now?
The man refuses to even feed the kitty and his son comes to see his father on the weekends. He is about 12 years old. I heard him ask his dad" Does that mean my kitty is their kitty now?" I came around the corner and told the young man, "No sweetheart, I'm not trying to take your kitty away."
Isn't it time in this young mans life to learn a lesson here?
That if you don't take care of your pets, you will lose them?

Why doesn't the government issue i.d. cards to those of us who are Social Security and Social Security Disability. It would save having to bring tons of paperwork to some facility when we are trying to get further assistance. Don't you think? Why can't the government ever think of things like this? I know stupid question?

And made some one else feel good too?
There is a Staples right across the street from my apartment complex that has one of those large slide the letters in signs and the words they had said Manny Christmas. I went across the street and asked the manager why and he said they only had one r left and they decided to use it in the word Christmas. I said why didn't they take some white tape and cover up part of the n's and make them look like r's? He though that was a great idea and put the tape on himself. I got a free package of computer printer paper and thanked him profusely. Now if I only had a printer to go with it?
