And made some one else feel good too?
There is a Staples right across the street from my apartment complex that has one of those large slide the letters in signs and the words they had said Manny Christmas. I went across the street and asked the manager why and he said they only had one r left and they decided to use it in the word Christmas. I said why didn't they take some white tape and cover up part of the n's and make them look like r's? He though that was a great idea and put the tape on himself. I got a free package of computer printer paper and thanked him profusely. Now if I only had a printer to go with it?

A couple of weeks ago I had to take my dad to another city, about an hour's drive away, to get a new SS card. Just before we got to the office, we had to stop behind a school bus. I watched as the driver used the lift to get a little boy in a wheelchair off the bus. His mother was waiting for him, and she carried the wheelchair with the child up the hill to her house. I was so choked up watching this, I decided I wanted to help her. I finally had a chance to go yesterday. I didn't know what kind of person she was, but I was going to give her some $60. I know it's not much, but I have a lot of expenses right now. I got to thinking that I didn't know anything about her, and at the last minute I decided to give her $40. When she answered the door, I saw a small lady in a faded sweatshirt, no makeup, and long gray hair. I handed her the money and said, "I hope this helps you with Christmas". She was so sweet, and said, "God bless you." I was ashamed that I didn't give her more, but decided I will go back as often as I am able and give her as much as I can. I keep thinking about what life has already been like for her with this little disabled child, and what is in store for her for many years to come. I am ashamed of all the waste in my life, but am glad that there are ways I can fix that, and help someone else.

Yes, I had the best time buying gifts for people I don't know. I usually take a couple of tags from the Charity Christmas tree, and buy for children. But this year I read that the charities get snowed-under with things for kids, and not so many for teen aged boys and older people. So this year I bought for two teen aged boys, and two "grandfathers". It was a great day, shopping with these people in mind, trying to think of what they might like. Much more satisfying than buying for my family, who have so much "stuff" already.

Anyone who doesn't do this, do try it, it is an exciting shopping trip, you don't have to spend a fortune, and it makes you feel good. I'm sure that the recipients feel good too, to know that a complete stranger has thought of them at this time.

I work at a small shop that is located at right off an exit ramp to the highway. About a week ago during another Michigan snow storm a young woman stopped in our office crying, frantic. She had a two year old in her car and her car was running out of gas. She had no cash and no credit cards. So virtually no way to pay for some gas. So I left work. Drove to the nearest gas station and purchased a gas container and filled it full with gas. Drove back to my work where she was and filled her tank with what gas I could get. Then I gave her all the cash I had and followed her to the closest gas station to make sure she got there safely and paid for her gas. She offered to come back and pay me back but I told her to take the money and buy her and her daughter something nice for Christmas. I am just glad she stopped where she did so I could help her out and that she didn't end up stranded somewhere in the middle of the snow storm. God has already rewarded me with a ton of blessings. I didn't need her to repay me a few bucks back.

I hate to sound braggy-Because distance keeps us apart and I wanted something to draw us together as a family, I contacted everyone in my immediate and extended family age 18 and above and started a new family tradition-a Christmas Charity. We picked a charity and then we are all donating whatever we could afford (from $2-$200) and I am taking the total to the charity we selected. This year it is the local homeless shelters toiletries for homeless men program. They are making up 600 pillowcases full of toiletries to hand out on Christmas Eve. Each year we are going to select a different charity to donate to.

I feel a bit like one of the Pharisees proclaiming how good I am! I'm not bragging here. I feel guilty for not doing more for others during this Christmas season. Things that made me feel good: My husband and I contributed our little $10 gift to American soldiers when we were shopping at Sears for Christmas gifts. We just included the donation when we paid for everything at the register. (Sears stores are collecting money for deployed troops and their families. It's called USA Cares.) We also contribute to the Christmas offering at our church.

I get sad when I think about the many people in this world who won't have a Merry Christmas.

What a great idea, Wally. How many people would think of that.
I certainly hope I have. I donate to the animal shelter in my
area, because I feel so sorry for the dogs and cats there.
Staples is real nice to work with. Too bad they didn't give you
a free printer.

Edit-Good for you, Lucci. Bless you for saving an innocent animal.

Well done Wally. I may have answered this twice as I got interrupted.
The only thing I have done to make me feel good this season is to get out of bed every morning and greet the day.

With money being tight, I was happy to have been able to purchase 2 warm items of clothing and a game for a child whose name we got from the tree at church. I came in a little under the $20 maximum. This kid doesn't know me, but I felt good being able to do at least that much for a child.

When our church choir went caroling, we included the Alzheimer unit of a one of the retirement homes that we visited. The people that we sang to, looked through us when we first arrived. As soon as we started singing there were big smiles as well as singing by the residents. It was touching beyond words. I felt like crying.

That's a good example of when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Maybe if you keep advising on how to make their signs all next year, they will give a printer for next Christmas!
