branch of the military? Or any other particular award in which you are proud of?
I was awarded a "bosun's pipe" with a lanyard, onboard the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Durable out of Brownsville, Texas
My previous husband was a bosun's mate and served 20 years in the Coast Guard. While he worked in the Coast Guard, I worked in the private sector.
Knowing this the Captain of the Coast Guard cutter Durable honored me in a ceremony during which my husband retired. I was awarded the bosun's pipe in which I blew his final "reveille"
If you don't know what a bosun's pipe is, I have attached a couple of links. Click onto each command to hear the bosun's pipe.

On their very next voyage out to sea, the vessel caught fire and has since been decommishioned(sp?)

Shortly afterwards I set him free, because he could not keep his pecker in his pants.

Once a sailor, always a sailor:~)

When I worked as an Enforcement Officer for the State Comptroller's Office I received three awards for collecting the most in previously unpaid taxes state wide. As an Investigator for the Attorney Generals Office I was recognized in our state capital for locating people who were in arrears of paying their child-support, getting them in court and getting court orders to bring them into compliance. I have ten framed awards, letters from the Attorney General at the time and my picture taken with him as we worked together in court when I was on special assignment and he came to bring attention to " dead beat dads and moms " who hadn't been paying their child support...... I am very proud of my accomplishments
during my years with the government. Plus the great feeling it gave me to help others.

Non-military...received the Mary Switzer Scholar Award [one of 20 chosen nationwide] for Excellence in the Field of Rehabilitation [persons with disabilities]. It entailed a fellowship to NYU which I thoroughly enjoyed and yep, was so proud :-)

Mega congrats on the bosun's pipe! WHAT an acknowledgement!

Edit: thought I should clear something up - it is not I who had a disability - rather it was the field of expertise :-)

Congrats to you!!!!

I worked in a prison & while working there, I received the "Employee of the Month" award. It was a real honor to receive such an award, & my co workers entered my name. The warden has the last word on who gets the award, based on why co workers think someone should receive the award. I got some really nice gifts & a picture taken with the warden as he presented me with my award, & a special parking spot for a month, that was the closest to the employee/ visitor entrance. That was great when the weather was nasty. My nameplate joined the other names on a huge plack in our "employee/ visitor entrance, with those who received the award before me. I received a second award for doing an "outstanding job" for the year, in getting the monthly "state paperwork" together & presented to the warden, as it was due. The award was based on efficiency, neatness, organization, & being completed well before the due date.

**Congrats to all who have received special awards....Take a bow, you deserve it!!!!!!

**grodno....I am handing you the "Honesty Award" Hang it up on your wall.

No military for me. Got 'employee' of year for real estate sales once and several plaques and stuff as retiring president of a few organizations. The one I remember most is from high school. My essay won in a regional contest - nice check and certificate. Worst thing was I had to stand before whole school and read it but my photo was in newspaper (it was a very small town and some days news was scarce). When my mother died, I found copy of the article in her box of keepsakes.

Yes, when my Military Husband retired, I was honored with an award from the President of the United States Of America... Due to protocol I was forced to accept with a smile... it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! I had no respect for A president who played with little girls in the oval office!

PERIOD!!

I was awarded a scholarship for scholastic achievement. Then twice I was named "Outstanding Lady of the Community", and later won the governor's award for service to The Alliance on Aging.
Congratulations on your award.

Congratulations.

I've received many service awards from my community from which I retired 7 years ago. The frames are very useful.

What an honor! Thanks for the links too.
The only award I have received was "Foxiest Driver" at a car show for charity. I drove my dads Edsel and dressed for the part, including hat and gloves.
Such wonderful award winners here today. Congratulations to all!

Quite a few during my working years--Ironically the one I treasure the most, an award for the best flower garden and landscape in my neighborhood, plus $25.00 to buy more flowers, what more could you ask for......Merry Christmas.
