It's still called Christmas in the small town I live near, artificial Christmas trees are sold in stores, fresh cut Christmas trees are sold on lots and every one wishes each other either Happy Holidays if New Years is included in the greeting or just plain Merry Christmas if that's what is intended. It's been that way for years and I fail to see the insinuations that are being made by others. Perhaps it's because around here we know the reason for the season is Christ and any other reason comes in dead last. Who is this "they" that's being blamed for making "Holiday" a bad word? Must be the same ones that changed the meaning of the word "gay".

I am sorry but for 200 yrs, we have had said Merry Christmas and i will continue to say it, I wont buy a holiday tree, but i might buy a Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is not a religious symbol and happy holiday will not cross my lips. hmmm. Do we dare say happy Easter? Maybe we will have to get a holiday bunny. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Just put red white and blue lights on it! And for Easter hang eggs, Jack-o-lanterns for Halloween, turkeys for Thanksgiving . . . . . Use it year 'round! I know some people who do!
The tree itself was a pagan symbol which was incorporated into the Christian celebration in order to make Christianity more palatable, so call it a holiday tree and have fun. Christmas is a time of joy, a rebirth of hope. Keep it light, let in the Light and have a wonderful season.

I would suppose some people are opposed to the birth of Christ. I look forward to Christmas and I still have a Christmas tree, Christmas cards and Christmas lights. I don't see anyone trying to take away Hanuka and the Menora or what everyone else uses to celebrate Christmas. I respect all of these people to have whatever they wish. I see nothing wrong in having a season of peace and joy. Good question.

I don't put up a tree anymore, since no kids around, but if I see a "Holiday Tree" in a store I'll just ask for what holiday? The answer should be interesting. hehehe

In our local newspaper, someone commented about one tree-selling site that was selling BOTH "Holiday trees" and "Christmas trees"... They wanted to know if there was a price difference and HOW DO YOU TELL THEM APART?!

In other countries they have holiday trees for a lot of holidays! Easter is one... they hang the prettiest little eggs on this .... well it's a fancy tree branch generally painted gold! they are just beautiful!
So Yes... go ahead and have a tree anytime you want! It's your world you know! Do what makes you happy!

yep...the "politically correct" are taking over. In 1969 when I joined the U.S. Navy gas was 33 cents a gallon , the speed limit was 70mph and one was innocent until proven guilty. By 1974 when I got out , gas was 50cents a gallon, speed limit was 55 and people were guilty until they proved their innocense. Saw the writing on the wall and like a virus it has been spreading .We were always told of the evil wanting to attack us from outside our borders, when actually is was the executive, legislative and judicial branches that we should of been worrying about. They attacked us while we were away.Enjoy that 2.3% increase in SSI, it's covering the 10% cost of inflation for the next decade.
