THIS KIND OF STUFF HAS GOT TO STOP IN OUR COUNTRY

We Must Stop This Immediately!

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper . Groceries are heavier . And, everything is farther away. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street has become! This extension work was apparently done at night !! Very sneaky stuff.. And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the youngsters. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age.

On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day, and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection ........Well, REALLY NOW- even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 32 pair of pants a 42, or medium shirt as 'extra large? Do they think no one notices that these things no longer fit around the waist, hips, thighs, and neck?

The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank, but in reverse. Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? Heck ! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling? I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!

All I can do is pass along this warning: We are under attack! Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN GET THIS CONSPIRACY STOPPED!

PS: I am sending this to you in a larger font size, because something has caused my computer's regular fonts to be smaller than they once were. (They must be sneaking to my house and messing around with my computer. Probably CIA....!!!) Pretty scary stuff huh?

I had so much fun earlier this evening, next doors little grandaughter is sleeping at her Grandmas tonight. For some reason she has always liked to visit us too.
Personally I think the attraction is my biscuit tin, but that's another story!
Anyway it gets to her bedtime and I was watering my garden. I heard her little voice call me "Please open the gate and let me in, I need to hug you goodnight"
So thinking to myself how cute that was I open the gate.
Only to be faced with the biggest water pistol ever invented and she soaked me to the skin! lmao. I tried to run, but my arthritic hips don't allow me to move that fast.
I must have looked a sight walking back up the path with my dripping hair and wet clothes.
Some people might not have been to impressed if it had been them, but it was fun and never cost me a penny to hear the chuckles of a six year old.
So my question is. Would you have been cross with her?
I think you know my answer already!! lmao x

I am currently looking for new ideas for activities for independent senior citizens. I want to jazz up my calendar with new things for them to do instead of the same ole same ole. They love to play cards and bingo...I will always keep those activities on the calendar. I would like to add some new spice to the calendar. They are independent. They all have their senses, some of them are getting to the point where they don't want to do a lot of physical activity. If any of you have any ideas please post for me. It would be most appreciated.

As a group, do elderly people like being referred to as:
Old people
Elderly
Senior citizens/Seniors
OP's
Oldies
Blue hair ladies (of course men are not included w this &hearts )
Retired persons
Something else?

If you are NOT old, what do you call old people? Not to their face of course, and I mean as a group.

I just answered a q and it reminded me of what I did today, trying to rush and do to many things at once.
I was putting the shopping away, stirring a pan on the cooker and drying dishes when I noticed my hanging baskets needed water, so the tap is running in to the watering can, and while I'm waiting for it to fill I wipe a couple of dishes. I put my hand out and picked up my glass of grapefruit juice, with out looking and took a big mouthful. I nearly choked!
Why you ask? Because the stock cube I thought I'd crumbled in to the food on cooker was in my juice!
Now how did I do that????
omg If I had a brain I'd be dangerous! lol

So my q is? Have you done something this daft in the past couple of days. I blame it on the fact the sun has started to shine for once! lol x

I do and I don't, it depends. Some of the younger generations listen to music, play games, watch T.V., work on projects, well, the list goes on and on. They call it multi-tasking. I find it to be just distracting. How about you?

I've had to start putting senior citizens in the search field because the subject isn't included in the categories list. On rare occasions, it will be a subcategory of society and culture/cultures & groups.

I found a CD in a museum shop that had 1920s and 30s music. I really like some of the songs, especially The Andrew Sisters "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" from the 30s, and "Do Do Do" by Gertrude Lawrence, as well as "My Blue Heaven" by Gene Austin. I try to expand my musical horizons.

As a senior citizen myself I see lots of OLD FOLK acting in a rude manner and who seem to expect and demand a level of service which they don't themselves put into practice.
They are especialy badly behaved to teenagers and others they see as beneath them

I discovered senior citizens a few weeks ago, right before I retired. You guys (and gals) are great! I wish we could have a big party! Retirement is great; I'm having so much fun. Well, after the first day that is -when I lost my set of car/house keys because I was careless with all my joy! Luckily I found the keys, so everything is okay.

After another couple of weeks of goofing off I'll get serious with some volunteer work that I've been planning for the last couple of years. Also will be playing my piano, guitar and singing more. Also, will be taking more Spanish classes. Was offered a part-time job last week but I'm not seriously giving it much thought! I love my new life! And hey, I just got a cell phone at the request of both my daughters. I said I would get one if they would put me on their plan -haha. It worked. Now I have to get a home computer, so I can yak with y'all. I'm an daughter #1 house right now. Have a great weekend!!!

The brother of my boyfriend's grandmother lives alone and he has 85 years and he can no longer mantains his house or his self. We had a person going there every day to clean and make him food and on weekends we would pick him up, but we realize that this is not enough. We want to put him in a type of nursing home or care center, but we really want to make sure is a good, safe and fun place for him. We leave in Puerto Rico and through the internet I havent found much in this location. Any personal experiences or places that you can recomend in Puerto Rico would be helpful.
