I just answered a q and it reminded me of what I did today, trying to rush and do to many things at once.
I was putting the shopping away, stirring a pan on the cooker and drying dishes when I noticed my hanging baskets needed water, so the tap is running in to the watering can, and while I'm waiting for it to fill I wipe a couple of dishes. I put my hand out and picked up my glass of grapefruit juice, with out looking and took a big mouthful. I nearly choked!
Why you ask? Because the stock cube I thought I'd crumbled in to the food on cooker was in my juice!
Now how did I do that????
omg If I had a brain I'd be dangerous! lol
So my q is? Have you done something this daft in the past couple of days. I blame it on the fact the sun has started to shine for once! lol x

Dear Sylvia D, How sad am I? I wasn't even multi tasking! Our bathroom is downstairs, luckily. Our bath is a very slow filler and I had left it running after washing my hair.
Phone rings and it's my daughter who lives 200 miles away and I only get to speak to her once a week. Yes, you guessed it, it overflowed. There was about 1 inch of water on the floor.
Not much of a problem, you might think in view of what happend to the recent flood victims. WELL! we have had a de-humidifier and 3 fans going, night and day for 7 days, Hot or what! they came out to check today and it is nearly dry BUT, The carpet tiles and vinyl tiles beneath have had to be removed, The side of the bath has had to come off and the tiles have to come off the wall. The plaster has to be chopped out up to about a metre high as salt is showing through the paint.
ALL THIS FOR 1 INCH OF WATER!!
It just brought it home to me what hell, those poor people are going through. I am ashamed to admit that I have had a moan about being without a bathroom for several weeks.
I have been humbled.

I am 56 and it used to be only the over 50 that did this stuff, but you younger people live in a world that expects you to multi task times 1000. You need to get a grip, like leave your cell phone home for one day as an experiment. SEems impossible, try it and see the relief, OK try an hour :) It is sad to see young people not being able to mentally function properly, but I am a retired school teacher and when you get over 50, it happens, your skin on your face wrinkles and so does your brain. YOur brain starts going down hill at 35 !!! If you are over 50, just accept it and make it funny, when I forget a name when talking about someone, I just say "
what's her name" and make it funny. Why fight it, it is the normal course of life, I know, I remember laughing at what my mom did when she was 56 and now I do the same things !! And we have 1000 more brands to choose from when we go to the store, I hate it.

Oh yes I do thinkgs like that too. I am a serious multi tasker, never go upstairs empty handed thats my motto!
I even like to do everything downstairs that needs doing before I nip up for a wee. Even if I am desperate, I tidy round, hoover, wipe the worktops down, LOL. Today I picked the kids up from school, got back and Id left the fridge door open whilst Id been out. ( an hour). The only reason for that was, I had come back to get them both a choc milkshake, to drink on the way home. Put them into my handbag, and rushed out leaving fridge open.
I work in social services and shop with the residents. I always say things like, "put the chicken in" to my hubby, who then argues there is no bloody chicken. I say there is I bought it yesterday, and then I remember, oh no it was at work LOL
Hubby calls me Jack, after Jack Nicholson, in As good as it gets. Have you seen it? LOL OCD I think youd call it. I blame too much multi tasking just like you.
Good Q. x

I'm nearly 66 and I've leaned the hard way that even a woman can only do one task at a time unless you compartmentalise. I have found that even the ladies who tell me what experts they are only succeed with far more bad rempered huffing and puffing and blaming everyone else when things go wrong as they do.
Is it worth it? I think not take a little longer life is to be enjoyed and if dinner is ten minutes late it'd ten minutes late.
Exception if you have an appointment elsewhere then you just have to get it right but rushing around will not help

I was brushing my teeth and packing my boy's bags a few days ago, and I rushed through the kitchen holding a bottle a leapster and my toothbrush, slipped on the dog water, and nearly broke my leg. Luckily my ex father in law was at the door, heard the crash and was able to scrape me off the floor. I spent the rest of the day limping around doctors offices getting my boys to their check ups, trying to carry a carseat and hold the three year olds hand, and the diaper bag. Which is hard enough to do without a hurt leg and foot. It was awful. Oh, that was Friday the 13th that it happened.
This story does remind me of my parents though. My dad likes to bug my mom around dinner time, playfully asking what she is doing, and what she has for him. Well one night we went to Publix, and came back with groceries, and he asked what she had for him. So she mixed up some cold powdered gravy, and gave it to him, saying it was a new chocolate drink she found at the store. He chugged like half of it before he noticed. It was hilarious.
Have a nice day!

May God Bless ya woman! LOL Heck yeah, that happens to me all the time. My worst is I tend to put my car keys in the freezer when I'm putting up the groceries...it's on the back porch and I take the frozen food there first, open the door, set down my keys (inside) then put in the food, and viola! Whatever did I do with those darned keys this time??? I guess I wouldn't be so embarrassed about it if I did it only once, but seems like I do it once a month, and hubby knows right where to look!
Anyway, thanks for the smile!

I read once that "just because a computer can do eight things at once, does not mean it does them well." Same things goes for the human brain, regardless of age. I do volunteer work with young people. They are very much into multitasking and make a lot of mistakes because of it. I am constantly telling them to slow down and pay attention to what they are doing. They have got their whole lives ahead of them, something that is no longer true for me; but, I have learned patience and perseverance, and how to get things done on account of it.

I multi task multi tasking more often then not !
The daftest thing that's ever happened to me whilst doing this was to put the washing up liquid into the refrigerator and cram all my tea bags into the teapot instead of the tea caddy.
doh!
I have had to single task over the past 6 weeks due to a broken leg, it all takes soooo much time!
Luckily there is an end to it all and I am so looking forward to MULTI tasking again!

It's those darned sun spots. They'll get you every time.
My multi-tasking fiasco happened yesterday when I returned from town with groceries, laundry and books from the library. I was putting everything away and my hands were damp from the vegi's. I wanted to put the books on the table so I reached behind me for the towel I knew I'd just set there. It took me a few minutes to realise I was drying my hands on my clean skivvies.

Sylvia you are nuts aren't you ? You do so much and in such a short time . You look after your house and still find time to ginger up the folk on this site .Slow down a bit for goodness sake .. You make us all exhausted trying to keep up with you .I do silly things all the time . Not because I rush like you but because I am getting a bit forgetful and clumsy in my advancing age .I try to stick to one thing at a time but it doesn't always work.
