I love the music of that time. Even when I was a kid, I loved it. IMO people who can only relate to the music and culture of their time have very narrow horizons indeed. I love the Andrews Sisters, Mills Brothers, Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, Jimmy Durante, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Good stuff.

What I remember better than the songs, are the MOVIES...
Our Gang
Shirley Temple
Three Stooges
All the Road to movies with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope
And all those big Hollywood musicals...
You know, all those great movies that played on Saturday Matinees on TV. And the music that came in them wasn't half bad either....
White Christmas
Singing in the Rain
On the Good Ship Lollipop
Curly Top
Oh My Goodness

Love the music! Love the movies! Love the styles! The Andrew Sisters and Benny Goodman are some of my favorites. I also love Carmen Miranda. Check out Paul Whiteman, Cab Calloway, and Red Nichols & His Five Pennies, too.

Good for you. I really like the Big Band sound. Some of my favorites are Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and Woody Herman. I also like The Andrews Sisters. There is a man named Spike Jones that parodies the songs of that era and is hilarious.

You will find almost all the 'Standards" written in the 30's and 40's. Gershwen, Porter, etc....all from this era. Some of the best music ever written, and I am a rock and roll era child...My HS years were 55-59, the actual RR era!

I do. It depends on my mood. 1920s I like "Night and Day" or "Let's Misbehave". I like Billie Holiday in the way of 40s jazz...she makes you think of smoky, dimly lit nightclubs. It doesn't matter how old or young you are; if you like that music, go ahead and like it! :)
