I mean nappy is just a descriptive term. Why are so many blacks offended when someone talks about "nappy" hair when "nappy" is nothing more than a harmless adjective? It doesn't seem racist at all. Meanwhile, blacks insult whites all the time.

Seriously. You guys I've never heard any of these things before! I visit American Yahoo Answers and you guys man, you take the cake! Really. In the UK people aren't racist like this it's sad to read. But the things you guys discuss I mean whoo! Who would have thought! We left that in a history book 100 years ago! It's like you guys live in the past but yet you're America! It's ironic you know. Well I'm laughing please don't attack me. Laugh more at yourselves. You seem so angry! Okay this is just a paragraph of me discussing the U.S section. Not a question. hmm. Sorry. So I guess I'll ask this one "How's everything in America?"

when i chat with americans and tell them that i live in the UK, they assume that i live in England. Don't they even learn georgraphy in school? I have tried explaining to them that wales, scotland and ireland are not in England but they still don't understand.

I was born welsh and i'm proud of my little country but i wish Americans would learn the countries in the U.K, im 16 but even i can name some states in the USA and know the difference!

Now i know why they say americans are so un-educated! i dont mean to sound heartless but the pollish/french have a better chance of understanding countries than americans.

The reason I ask is because I remember reading it when I was little with no racial connotations, and now you are not supposed to say it. I know this question probably sounds incredibly stupid, but I live in a mostly white and Hispanic neighborhood, so I don't know these things. I am seriously asking and not trying to offend anyone.

I want a revolution just as much as anybody, however, I think now is not the time to test the waters of our country. We seriously cannot allow another Republican into office. We finally gained control of Congress now we just need a democratic president in order to get things done.

I don't believe the public is ready for a black or female president. We can't lose this time around. The stakes are too high to hope that the voters will vote for a women or a minority president. People are too racist and sexist.

Imagine hearing Don Imus comments, "We have a nappy headed person on one hand, and a ho on the other!"
I can hear the PMS jokes now.

I hope the public will pick the best person for the job, but as we have failed to do so in the recent past, I don't think they will.

Having moved from India to live and study here in Australia, I find that we Indians are a bit of hypocrites when it comes to racism; on one hand we might claim to be the "victim" of racial abuse but on the other hand it's surprising how meekly we side with the most bigots among White people on race issues

E.g. I asked a question today and received a racist response from an Indian called dictator_cool

http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai265td5LuszWLKFi3JRZkaQHQx.?qid=20070410001845AATrbq6

In simple words, many Indians seem to be opposed to mixing with other races (Whites an exception). Even here in Australia, when I decided to move with my Chinese girlfriend, my Indian friends have almost deserted me and I decided to not care for them any more. Apparently, if she were a White girl, noone would have any problem on the contrary they would have encouraged me for sure.

This is clearly double-standards.

person in a beat up old car. am i the only one who think like this??? in my mind i equate white folk with wealth because they own all the major corporations, so when i see white people with broke down, or old, or substandard cars i find it quite hilariously pitiful. these kind of cars should be left to the broke minorities to drive like the mexicans. do i have a skewed mindset or is anyone with me??

In America I mean. It seems we all have to have some blonde ditzy chick to thrive off of, read about in the tabloids and news… and peek into their personal lives… even tough there are all types of people we do that to, it just seems even more crazy with blonde chicks… it's really annoying.

Are the Rutgers women basketball team that bitter about their loss, that they need to focus all of their energy and lash out at a radio host because of a joke of a comment.

Are people that senstive about a joke or is it, that they can't face their own personal dilemma's. I have never faced a person who hasn't joked about one another's race or characteristics.

I guess Don Imus comments which were made publicly that made this a big issue. But doesn't the african-american community on BET or any movies that have african-american comedians joke around about others race.
