I mean nappy is just a descriptive term. Why are so many blacks offended when someone talks about "nappy" hair when "nappy" is nothing more than a harmless adjective? It doesn't seem racist at all. Meanwhile, blacks insult whites all the time.

Yes, the word nappy is a descriptive word, but what is it describing? Who else has truely nappy hair? No one could be that stupid, to think they are innocently describing a hair texture, by saying nappy. Everytime I hear a non black say something about nappy hair, their intelligence level drops 50 points. And to the idiot who said we straighten our hair and put blonde weaves in it. every race of females changes hair color and texture and put WEAVES in! If you honestly thought using the term nappy was harmless, why would you validate your comment, by insisting blacks insult whites all the time? Like i said, no one is that stupid. We all know an insult we hear one.

A nappy in most of the English speaking world is what the USA calls a diaper. I would be insulted if you said my hair looked like a nappy, particularly a used one.

nappy is nappy, the reason African American get offended is psychological conditioning. Just as When you are you little growing ups have said nasty thing to you over and over to you It becomes a trigger word to mean something that's condescending...and when you think you grew out of stage of always being insulted by the word....someone uses it, ignorantly someone says it to you and you recoil as you did when you heard it long before.

U answered ur question In order to b brainwashed u r easily influenced bcause lack of experience which is ignorance Also they might be more open 2 people outside of their comfort zone if they took the time 2 learn more about others We watched a video in my forensics class and it was called born bad They did a puppet show for babies and there was an orange puppet who needed help opening a box 1 that was nice and help & 1 that was mean & slammed it down They had them choose btween the nice & mean They choose nice Then they made them choose btween orange & purple puppet They switched the orange puppet 2 purple and did the show again so they were being mean 2 purple puppet Then they made them choose between the nice & mean puppet & they started choosing the mean 1 So people r born naturally comfortable 2 people who closer resemble them but w/ experience u may or may not realize that other people are not so bad and the reason y people do not understand others is because they r ignorant

I am gonna give it to you straight no chaser...it is prejudice because it is a term that white people gave us to make us feel bad about "being different" just like the term colored and if no one is offended by being called a straight haired hoe, or a curly haired hoe that's because people never describe you like that, everytime someone describes a black person it has to be with a reference to there skin tone or hair texture why can't people just say what they are. The reason that is is so offensive maybe more then being called a hoe, is because we as African Americans are so tired of our race being the center of attention in everything especially in an insult. And if you want to talk about someone being sensitive no I am not sensitive I am pissed, I am African American and Native American and I am faced with the reality everyday that my heritage was ripped from me and then when you turn around and say something about WHITE people then I am a bad person and a racist, but I have every right to be yet I forgive people and take them as they are. But then s*&t like this happens and it set us back another 100 years because people can't find it in themselves to treat people with respect.

Whites have been insulting blacks for decades must we remind you.. nappy is a slave term... and if you heard when that reporter said it then you would probably understand the context...im seeing that yahoo has invented a great vent to let americas next racist generation to surface... you need to expand your contacts then and ask a black coworker the same question... see what kind of response you get... or if you are working go to your HR dept, and ask them what they think.... thats the best way to find out.

When a white, shock jock type radio host refers to an all black female basketball team as "nappy headed ho's", IT'S RACIST! While the word "nappy" is a descriptive term, the context in which it was used was implied racism. You don't have to call a person a jiggaboo to their face, to be racist. Do you have any more clever questions, smart guy?

Because it is, you moron. You white people didn't bring this sh*t up until that dumb Imus guy ran his mouth, which gets most of you white people into trouble. You white people are the most complaining people I've ever seen. And I agree with Miss America 1000000% because she's real, and you are fake. There are racial barriers for a reason...What Blacks do and say in their culture is none of your damned business--you are WHITE--understand that. Stop questioning the actions and decisions of Black people. You people are so pathetic and waste all your precious time ranting and crying about Black people. People like you give white people a bad name.

They can shell out the insults, but have a difficult time getting it back. Nappy must be the new n-word.

Its not racist....its a derogatory adjective used by some to insult others, and no I don't insult whites all the time, or anyone else for that matter.
