Having moved from India to live and study here in Australia, I find that we Indians are a bit of hypocrites when it comes to racism; on one hand we might claim to be the "victim" of racial abuse but on the other hand it's surprising how meekly we side with the most bigots among White people on race issues

E.g. I asked a question today and received a racist response from an Indian called dictator_cool

In simple words, many Indians seem to be opposed to mixing with other races (Whites an exception). Even here in Australia, when I decided to move with my Chinese girlfriend, my Indian friends have almost deserted me and I decided to not care for them any more. Apparently, if she were a White girl, noone would have any problem on the contrary they would have encouraged me for sure.

This is clearly double-standards.

Almost no Indian I know here at University EVER interacts with a Black/Brazilian person. Many Indians already HATE Muslims because of vegetarian/non-vegetarian problems.

Having lived in India all my life, I know the TRUTH that most Indians (especially older generations) have absolute contempt for Black/Chinese/Japanese/Malay and many other communities.

Even in our democratic media, these STEREOTYPES have been kept alive.

Makes me wonder how far behind we are as a nation, compared to Western countries. There is racism in the West, in Australia but no, I don't think it's tolerated at all. They're far ahead of us in terms of liberal values.

To a certain extent I agree. Honestly, I think we Indians should only marry and date fellow Indians of our particular religion and ethnic back round. Miscegenation is best left for euros, blacks, hispanics, east asians, etc. Thankfully most non-Indians are intimated by or aren't attracted to our culture and we don't readily accept unions with blacks, whites, arabs, etc. I am sure this will offend many, but it's the truth

Here in England it seems that minorities have so successfully brainwashed everybody that racism is now a strictly White-Man's disease.
We cannnot even use the word 'Racism' when non-whites are being racist; we have to use the meaningless non-word 'reverse-racism'!!

Just to muddy the waters even further there are some peculiar folk out there who cry racist when we discuss religion! What's that all about?

You are, of course, absolutely correct anyway. The minorities over here are, without a shadow of a doubt, among the most virulently racist peoples on the face of the planet. Sad to say we are not allowed to say so.

Gotta run, the Thought Police just beat down the door...

The company that I work for is owned by Indians and has hired many Indians. I have found that even among Indians there is discrimination. It seems as if the caste system is still alive, I thought that had been eliminated? I have to be careful who I appoint as a leader because if he is of a lower caste the rest of the worker will ignore him.

I definitely think many asians are racists, they look down on black people. One of my friends has a black mum and Pakistani dad and her whole family was basically rejected by her dads side of the family. I wasnt aware that it was solely an Indian issue, regrettably I have had negative experiences with lots of Asians from the Indian subcontinent.

as a british asian i find that a lot of other british asians tend to clique-up. i found that particuarly so at university. i personally dont understand it either. as someone british i identify with all the people i have been bought up around, whatever their race, because culturally we have been exposed to the same things. My famly continue to practice certain traditions, which my white/african/malay (etc) friends find interesting and try to (wen invited) take part in it. similarly, I'm the same with my friends cultures , whatever their /their parents origin ight be, its what makes life interesting. Its a shame that a lot of indians do this. i think all cultures are guilty of it though, i've seen black and chinese cliques. i think whilst its nice to have friends that understand your parental heritage, its a bit disappointing when you choose your frendships based on sharing the same colour/religion...

Of course - and I thank you for pointing it out. I have noticed this many times in the past - and it 's mental slavery. Of course, i've been in India many times - and some Indians are phenomenal but- what you say is true and is something you should bring up with your Indian friends.
WHat do we want in the end?
change.

Indians developed the CASTE SYSTEM by which all were judged and treated.

Give them credit for bringing Racism to an "untouchable" level.

You are right. India appears to be fundamentally racist because of the caste system. You are to be commended for your honesty and courage.
