Before the hate mail comes out, let me first tell you that I do not mean this in a demeaning or racist way - AT ALL. I really just want to know what you would think if people of a certain ethnic persuasion started calling themselves Caucasian-Americans. There's already African-American, Latin-American. Italian-American. What would be wrong with European? It's my heritage ....

Only white people can be racists. I'll give some reasons why I think this. First if there was a scholarship that only let white people in, that would be a racism. But there are scholarships that let African-Americans and Hispanics in. There is also BET(Black Entertainment Channel), but if there was a WET(White Entertainment Channel) that would be racist. Imagine this, all these white children are beating up a little African boy. You would say that they are racists. But wouldn't it be the same if a bunch of African children were beating up a white boy? I also went to a theme park and they had a Hispanic family day were anyone who was Hispanic got a discount, but there wasn't a White family day because that would be racist. I'm white and not racist, but What are your views and opinions on this subject?

Reason I say this is because I have met the most beautiful woman that I have ever met in my life. She was english, graceful, reserved and absolutely perfect. And I worry that she might have been put off by my rather boisterous personality. I realize that Americans can be a little rough around the edges, and I guess the first step of overcoming this is to recognize it!

Initiating A Double Standard? Shouldn't we demand respect for OUR women, even from rap stars and exploiters of film and tv? Why weren't we outraged over the injustices we've done ourselves? Are we making ourselves look like we aren't sure what we want or how we want it? Finally, what signals are we sending to people of other races? Talk to me!

From a Yahoo news article -- Only 8.4 percent of big league players last season were black -- the lowest number in at least two decades. "Obviously, he would not be satisfied with where we are now," Rachel Robinson said, referring to the man she still calls Jack. "He would be disappointed, because he felt we were on the way toward some lasting change." --

What in the world??? I don't understand why this is even an issue. The problem that Jackie faced was that blacks were not allowed. Today, the "problem" is that they prefer basketball and football. That isn't a problem in my eyes. Everyone who is able and willing can play, so why does Mrs. Robinson think Jackie would think this isn't "lasting change?"

This morning I was listening to a hip-hop station on the way to work where they were discussing the whole Imus incident. One woman who I'm guessing was black said that she wishes we still used segregation because she "hate's dealing with whitey." The host just kind of shrugged it off and took the next call. Can you imagine if a white person called a radio station and said something like "I hate dealing with blacks"? There would be an UPROAR. I don't understand why black people are allowed to be racist!

How can NWA, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, be any different? This is a free country, and just because you are black, does not give you the right to say whatever you want about your own race. Equal rights are equal rights. Youre color should not matter. Black people can call each other the "N" word, but no one else? And please do not bring the slavery issue into this, that was 100's of years ago. I support Don Imus.

Thank you all for your comments.
Peace

We definately have a double standard in American because of past injustices that most people living now had nothing to do with. I'm Cherokee Indian and Irish, both were crapped on. I've listened to plenty of rap stations say "cracker" repeatedly. Did I call in and cry about how offended I was? No because who gives a damn about what other people say. Maybe it's insecurities with yourself that cause these uproars over some guy on a radio station making a comment. Who cares what he say, he's one person. Grow some backbones people.

Lived in Africa for 2 1/2 years and was told on leaving you can leave Africa but it will always stay with you, It's true, but why? I didn't see any attrocities, I was only a school girl. Why has it had such a strong affect on part of my views, attitudes and feelings, to the point that I would choose a black man over a white man if I was to choose a partner, and feel that most black people look far more attractive than any other ethnic group. I think Africa did something to me. I am a white middle aged female.

In parts of Germany, black people are most looked down upon. i heard alot of crazy things about black people in germany before i left i almost canceled my trip. people looked terrified when i told them where i was going. heres some i heard:
Black people are very uncivilized (bad houses, dirty people)
Black people are very agressive and mean
Black people will shoot you on the spot
Black people are inferior to whites
I did'nt know what to do when i heard this but i am a very curious person. they originally directed me to go to a white preparatory high school but i changed it to the most blackest roughest school in the district to explore. (not scared of anything.) my mom strongly dsapproved and called blacks a few words before i left. Anyway, i did visit the white schools which i find are pretty normal and boring. i now go to the black school where i am actually treated very nice, especially by black girls. they are loud and exciting and loves to do hair. i love to watch them dance!
