This morning I was listening to a hip-hop station on the way to work where they were discussing the whole Imus incident. One woman who I'm guessing was black said that she wishes we still used segregation because she "hate's dealing with whitey." The host just kind of shrugged it off and took the next call. Can you imagine if a white person called a radio station and said something like "I hate dealing with blacks"? There would be an UPROAR. I don't understand why black people are allowed to be racist!

Voice of reason: So you're telling me that if someone called a radio station and said I hate dealing with black people, no one would consider it derogatory or racist? The point I was trying to make is that it's no big deal because it was a black person saying the racist comment but if it was a white person you can bet that there would be a complete upheaval

Its them showing their ignorance and the white race being too afraid to tell them to shut the hell up. We have to be so politically correct. Well, now I'm offended!

Okay consider the source for a moment....you called a hip hop station which is patronized mostly by Black listeners, discussing Black issues with Black disc jockeys. Let's not get it twisted. The listener saying she wished it was still segregated is probably uneducated and misinformed. Why do I say that, because for one, even if there was still segregation, we would still be dealing with White people. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
Also, never did she say something derogatory towards White people, she merely stated she wish things were segregated. On the other hand, when Don Imus made his "nappy headed ho" statement it didn't have any direct connotations regarding segregation, though he may be thinking and wishing that being the racist nature of the statement. Therefore you really don't have a gripe here. I would be a little more understanding of your rage if the talk show host, or a guest said something along the lines of "tiny d ick racists white folks"...,but since that wasn't the case, you're just crying over nothing.
Please understand I am not saying that statement out of personal belief or racism, as I love White women as well as my own, but I just made that statement to give an example as to why to get upset.

Why are you people so baffled by this? Of course there would be an uproar! Whoever is in power has to be quiet because it is taken more seriously. The US is 12% black and they don't exactly rule the country. So whatever they say it can't be turned into a reality. But it is scarier if all white people wanted segregation again because they rule the country. Plus they would get the better end of the deal! Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! It's not a double-standard when we're talking white and black. period.

I keep saying the same thing! Imus, Sharpton, and the list goes on that spew hatred about gays and lesbians all the time. But has Imus ever been suspended for making comments about queers, bulldykes, nelly boys, or *******? Hell no! But as soon as he said nappy headed ho's he was in deep water. WHY? If he is only practicing free speech when he says things about homosexuals, wasn't he having free speech about blacks?

I'm black and totally agree with you. My fiance is white and he's told me several times how he's been pissed off at some of the comments made by black disc jockeys against whites. He likes the music that's played on the station, but they always end up saying something about whites. Whether it's how they talk, dress, act, etc.
I think it's BS! If that's not making race matters worse, I don't know what is. We need to immediately stop the double standard. It is possible for whites to be discriminated against too. Some blacks just don't get that. If it's not OK for whites to discriminate against blacks, it needs to be the same across the board.
Seriously, there are a lot of things that pisses me off about some blacks. This is just one of several.

People say stuff like that every day on yahoo answers!
But, to answer your question... it is not okay for any race to be racist. That was one persons comment. She does not represent the whole black race.

We live in a multi-cultural/ethnic society...a pluralistic society....if anyone doesn't want to deal with 'whitey' or whoever, they should pack their shiit and move to another country that is comprised solely/majority their race
