And we, the sheeple of the United States are falling into a trap designed to keep our minds off of the real issues at hand in Iran and other nations?

By THIS I mean, the Imus semi-scandal... and honestly, Anna Nicole. It was all a bit much in my opinion.

It may help answering your question if you told us what "this" you were talking about.

First you'll have to define what you mean by "this" for us.

Do I think we live in a culture of media diversion? Absolutely, but I don't know that we can conclusively say WHO is the source of these diversionary tactics.

When stories of Anna Nicole Smith's death, her subsequent OD on drugs (big surprise there) and the custody of her illigitimate child take precedence over issues like Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran there's a problem.

I maintain that news agencies are pandering to the culture in which we live in order to garner higher ratings/more web hits. We live in a culture of the NOW, not the past and certainly not the future. Our culture embraces the easy and ignores the difficult...as an example look at the average American diet now as compared to 50 years ago then compare it to the obesity boom we've finally noticed. McDonalds is much easier than taking (making) the time to fix a healthy meal. That's just an example.

Once we as a society disinvest ourselves from the flash and glitter of Anna Nicole Smith-like stories and begin to focus more on issues that not only effect us in the NOW but the FUTURE as well, I believe that you'll see the media follow in suit.

Yes.

Until the media and all government leaders focus on the REAL work it takes to stabilize Iraq -- the rebuilding of schools, homes, infrastructure, etc. -- all the talk is just political bantering back and forth to attack the other party.

If everyone who criticizes the war or supports the troops invested as much time and energy working alongside civilians to rebuild the country, there wouldn't be much left to argue about. Instead people just want to complain, without doing anything to solve the problems.

Since the real issues and solutions are never addressed, the debates get old. It is no wonder the attention of the media has drifted elsewhere.

Iran is definitely an issue, that President Bush must deal with shortly. We have an Iranian President who cares nothing for his people and he speaks like a sheep with one breath and a wolf with another. He is a silver tongued devil bound on destroying Israel and America. The peace agreements mean nothing with these terrorists people who follow Islam and change all contracts saying Allah wants it done this way. Arafat and Ahmedinajeb are both liars and prefer to lie when the truth would sound better. Arafat never honored an agreement that he signed. Syria won't either regardless of their visit from the Speaker of the House. Never! Syria laughed our Speaker all the way home. They think lying is the only way to speak to infidels as they call us. Mohammad wrote their Koran after listening to what Satan wanted from him. Mohammad used text from the Old and New Bible Testaments to write his Koran. His motive has been evil from the beginning and Mohammad's lifestyle proves it.

If you want to know what is coming in the future, read the Bible and forget the news media. The News Media doesn't have a clue.

Absolutely. People need to find there news elsewhere. Here is a simple formula for determining if the news media you choose as your source of information is legit: Do they or have they ever featured stories about a celebrities personal/family problems?

If the answer is yes, then you are taking information from a manipulatve and diversionary source . Turn those televisions off.

You have to wonder why it's getting so much play. It's not just because Sharpton is involved. He didn't get this much air time when he was running for president. I'm a Black female and I was outraged but now I'm so sick of hearing about it. Isn't there some real news out there because they are sucking this for all it's worth. Righteous indignation has it's limits.

Exactly. The media was taken over in this country in the 1920s.The conservative/liberal labels are hegelian dialectics in action. And it goes much deeper than the war issue.Much, much deeper than that.
